So...I voted for Obama.....who did you guys go for?
User avatar #147 to #119 - gmarrox (11/08/2012) [-]
Romney. Because I'm libertarian, and social liberties like gay marriage will inevitably come to pass with time, whereas we need a new approach on the debt now.

I'm aware this is comment suicide because liking Romney automatically makes me a rich white hyper-Christian homophobe, but **** it.
User avatar #156 to #147 - nigeltheoutlaw (11/08/2012) [-]
If you were true libertarian then you would have voted for a libertarian candidate, and not Romney, who is the antithesis of libertarianism.
User avatar #157 to #156 - gmarrox (11/08/2012) [-]
Yes because a libertarian had an actual chance of winning. I pretty much explained why i voted for Romney in the very comment you JUST replied to.
User avatar #158 to #157 - nigeltheoutlaw (11/08/2012) [-]
But his economic policies aren't even libertarian. He wanted to expand the government, especially in the military, which is about as far from your values as you can get.
User avatar #159 to #158 - gmarrox (11/08/2012) [-]
Libertarianism means social equality with liberal values but conservative government. Next to Obama, Romney is by far the more fiscally conservative candidate. I've done my research, I didn't just roll out of bed one day and decide I was a libertarian.

User avatar #133 to #129 - darkjustifier ONLINE (11/08/2012) [-]
With the Democrats and Republicans controlling the senate I don't think independent will ever be voted again.

Well, here's the obvious green thumb choice: Obama

and the real one: None of the 3 mainline candidates, because they were all pretty bad.
User avatar #134 to #128 - darkjustifier ONLINE (11/08/2012) [-]
Of course they were, but I rather choose the one that was pro gay marriage, those guys deserve something awesome.

You've got to explain me, Americans. A few months ago Obama was the worst president ever, he was a socialist causing all problems in the US. Everyone who defended Obama got immediatly -10 votes and everyone was going for republicans (first Paul, later Romney). And now he's suddenly popular again, you barely see comments from republicans anymore. What happened.

Most Republicans, (not all) are matured, and tend to stay silent. Like myself, except for this comment. I just have to deal with all this til it blows over in a few weeks

Romney said some stupid **** that made him lose the election, but im an Obama supporter so idc.
User avatar #89 to #24 - alyosha (11/08/2012) [-]
We live in a country which prioritizes social values over economic concerns. Personally I think that's backwards, but w/e. I can understand their side. We as a people aren't willing to be subjected to anti-gay and anti-abortion laws, so no matter how good the conservative camp's economic policies are, they're not going to win because they're still socially in the mid-1890s. Even though I voted Romney, I'm kind of glad Obama won because it shows the Republicans that this kind of **** isn't going to work in the 21st century. I'm kinda hoping they'll either see the error of their ways and slide more to the left on social issues, or else stick to their guns and ride them all the way into oblivion. Then maybe the Libertarian party can make a comeback, or some other third party which embraces liberal social values and conservative economics will come to power.

Barring that, it doesn't make much difference who won. The president doesn't have absolute power, and Congress's head is buried somewhere in its lower intestine by now so nothing's getting accomplished regardless of who's in the White House.
