There's already tons of Star Wars animated films. There's books and movies that continue the story. We have history hundreds of years before the movies. We also have stories of the new Jedi Academy that Luke started. No one gave a **** for years. As soon as Disney wants to continue something, everyone gets all butt-hurt for no reason.

You people say that you hated the prequels. Most of the audiences loved them. It was 16 years between episode 6 and 1. No one cared if it would be good or bad, because they knew any Star Wars film created by George Lucas would still be awesome.

Now, it's been 7 years since Revenge of the Sith and Disney wants to make more films. YOU PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING? For all we know, Disney is going to go ******** crazy and make some of the most awesome films we'll see. Unless it's going to completely butcher the series like Dragon Ball Evolution or The Last Airbender I don't care that they're making more movies.

One of my teachers who crazy about Star Wars (he literally goes out and buys any toy or product he can find) and he loves the continuation of the movies.

It's not about the producers, it's about the production. Star Wars is still living on, but happy about it.

TL;DR: Stop being butt-hurt, we're getting more awesome movies.

there's no guarantee that disney are going to make episode 7 awesome, it'll probably be a **** cash-in. people are idiots if they expect the forthcoming one to be nearly as good as the originals.

Well I'm sorry, some of us will more than like the series to be laid to rest.
Heaven forbid they ever re-boot The Godfather or Hannibal Lecter or Back to the Future... or even Casablanca, dammit!
User avatar #315 to #211 - nightmaren (11/04/2012) [-]
That's completely different. Star Wars doesn't take place in our world, where everything's already established, like every movie you just named.
Star Wars, probably even more than a movie series, is a universe, with hundreds of different planets and species, and more written history and lore than anyone can remember. The series was never "laid to rest" as new comics, books, and videogames are being produced, not to mention it has a few TV shows based in the universe.

The only thing that worries me is that all those books could become non-canon depending on how Episode 7 and any episodes following are done. I have faith in Disney though.

Wow I just thought of that too. Imagine how hard it must be to write an entire movie, making sure everything fits with the countless books/comics/shows/anything else. Good lord, that's depressing to think about.

Well, I was a bit sceptic at first when I heard that disney had bought it.. The first thing that came to mind was some cartoon princes movie.. But when a friend told me how many studios is accually owned by Disney, I changed my mind. I accualy think Disney can spit out something awesome, as longas the story's well written. I hope they take their time, and don't rush it.

No sources sorry, a friend told me about it.. Gues she found out on the net or something..

I thoroughly enjoy the originals and the prequels. I've been watching Star Wars since I was a kid. Although I am a bit scared that Disney may rape the 7th movie and it'll be awful, I still hope it can be brilliant.

I need to find some of the comics for that matter.

Anakin in the prequel was a little cunt... who turned into Darth Vader.

What the original trilogy portrayed was a 'great man' who succumbed to the dark side. Darth Vader is the coolest anti-hero and didn't get the back story he deserved.

But yes, I did like Revenge of the Sith because of the cinematics.

Disney were responsible for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (the first movie at least was awesome,) some damn good classic movies, and in general can produce some excellent stuff. I don't know why everyone's so pessimistic. I thought everyone hated the last 3 Star Wars movies, so surely the director handing the baton over to someone else is good news.
User avatar #134 to #107 - suikerpapa (11/02/2012) [-]

Disney isn't that stupid. And they own Lucas films. They will be working together to make the movie. The movies are going to make are based on scripts written by George Lucas themseleves. The best script Geoge Lucas ever wrote was episode 7. It has tons of action. And Disney said they did not just want to read the script they wanted to see it themselves in a movie.

Think about it this way: The first trilogy was great, and the second was a crap taco, right? Now let's consider the reasons for this. When Lucas started making Star Wars movies, he had actors reading his script and criticizing/changing dialogue to make it better (such as Harrison Ford's change from "I love you too" to "I know"). When Lucas had the money to not have to listen to anyone and keep his dialogue, we got ****** movies with ****** dialogue, gems such as "You're soft, unlike the sand" and "I saw him... killing younglings". Also, Jar Jar Binks. Point being, maybe it's good that somebody else is taking a crack at this now.

tl;dr it actually might be good that Lucas doesn't have complete control over his movies, we'll see.

Disney only publishes the new Marvel movies, they have no creative rights over it, those still belong to Marvel, what worries me is that Disney has full creative rights over Star Wars and theres the chance of it turning into a watered down version that appeals to a broader audience but dissapoints the actual fans.

yes the Lion King, the classic that was aimed entirely towards kids.... oh wait...
and yes of course it's the same exact thing, they're good at making child animated movies, so they MUST be good at continuing a science fiction saga created from one man.

well I was kinda ruffled too, but that wasn't because of your post, anyway I see where you're going I just don't think that Star Wars was ever something I anticipated Disney to do, and I still find it odd to think about, I know it's aimed at a wider audience but the target audience was kids is what I meant. Anywho it doesn't matter, I'm not gonna not see it lol, and I'm probably gonna like it whether it's good or bad, I mean there's always that thought of "well at least it's more Star Wars" so I'll give it a chance whether my hipster inside likes it or not.

I'm not saying Disney makes nothing but bad movies. I also love the **** out of Lion King, but I just don't really think there is much else for the series. I will go see the seventh either way, no matter how low my thoughts on the movie are.
