I said this in a comment a few pages back, but I'll say it again
For those of your wondering why this crab is ripping his arm off it's because it's his defense mechanism. It tears it's claw off and sets on the ground when there's a predator after him. Then he runs like hell while the predator hopefully goes for the easy meal. Don't worry about the crab though, he can regenerate lost limbs.
