okay since every one else is posting opinions I will respond in kind;

If one who insults you as such, with a "Get back to the kitchen" or the like:
1) If you don't know them, who cares, it just trash talking assholes pay them no mind unless they are literally ******* your mother.

2) If your BF or significant other asks you to make a sandwich, you should, not because he is your master or better than you but because he is an awesome guy who deserves a sandwich. If he isn't awesome, why the hell are you with him? You shouldn't be with some one abusive or demanding, you should be with someone awesome enough to deserve your sandwich. And he should make you sandwiches also.

C) The Heavy asks you for sandvich, throw him a damn sandvich.

i wish i could thumb this up twice. ive been saying this for years to people. my husband comes home he wants food i make food. hes being an ass he makes his own food very simple. also if people are still getting offended over "go make me a sandwhich" they have more issues than the people who think "go make me a sandwhich" is a good insult
User avatar #75 to #74 - majordraco (03/06/2014) [-]
I think what it is, that too many people settle with jerks and and up shackled with some one they don't really want to serve. I wake up every day trying to think of how I can make my wife's day better (and my kids too of course), but I think getting married is about laying down your life for one another.
If my wife needs me to make dinner I am more than happy to do it, even when I really don't want to.
But when I am gaming on Saturday I love it when my wife makes me lunch.
But I have my off days too, we all do, but they are getting fewer and further between.
User avatar #80 to #75 - littleliz ONLINE (03/06/2014) [-]
exactly. my husband wants food i bring it to him. i dont usually bring him lunch during gaming lol because im playing too. it ends up being whos not in battle makes the food haha. if you're with someone you dont want to do things for not only are you acting stupid but maybe just maybe they arnt so nice because you keep refusing to make him a sandwich lol.

-My little pony. You would see posts about MLP that no one understands but the bronies, yet it would have hundreds of thumbs. Kind of like the anime posts now, no offense
-Pewdiepie. Before his rise to uber-fame, funnyjunkers everywhere loved him. Now he's a very touchy subject because he's popular. You post a picture of him and you either get green or a **** load of red.

These topics are always so awkward. There are always 2 sides to this. The people that make sexist jokes and the white knights, internet justice warriors or the feminazis that care too much about it. If we don't address that issue then will it disappear? Or will the casual sexist jokes grow in to something worse.
The reason for this is obviously the fact that young men, such as the one portrayed on the comic are desperate for attention from their female chat partners. Grade school logic - pull Susan by her pigtails and she'll notice you. The sheer thought that she might have thought about you at all might be enough to fill that sad pit of despair that has been torturing your heart ever since you saw Katie kissing Geoffrey near the supermarket.
But how do we solve this issue? What is the best course of action? Do we just ignore them? Are people feminazis because they address the situation or are they the saviors we desire? **** if I know. I'm not a woman, why should I care. Or should I? Are we going to divide humanity based on gender? Are we not all equal? Is this truly a situation that's worth addressing or are we wasting our time and resources on something which in the end would not even matter?
Why am I even writing this here? It's not like this comment will make any difference at all. What am I doing with my life? Why am I still writing my thoughts? What is wrong with me? Why am I just writing questions? Wasn't I trying to prove a point? I'll just write a summary of this comment.

Address the situation or not, it is up to you. The consequences I do not know, what I know is that this is an issue which could be addressed given the time and resources for it are worth it. I have problems.

tl;dr sexist, racist, or any kind of discriminative jokes are usually a shout for attention. Give them that attention but not in a rude way. Compliment them on their humor and continue with your day. Everyone is special, YOU most of all.

by making sexism a joke allows real sexism to lose power at it becomes nothing more than a joke. Both men and women are a part of the sexist joke stuff, making feminazis and abusive and patriarchal men become nothing than jokes themselves because they cannot put the difference between jokes and something serious
#25 to #13 - anon (03/06/2014) [-]
You do realize that a majority of sexist jokes are the same ones people have heard literally hundreds of times. If it was just one joke that was kind of original it wouldn't be so bad but when so many people just default to kitchen and sandwich jokes it's really pathetic.
User avatar #26 to #25 - reican (03/06/2014) [-]
but they evolve, and real sexism is to me nothing but a joke.
#15 to #13 - anon (03/06/2014) [-]
Except we all have that one ********* guy/girl(and those of unspecified genders) who don't know when something is a joke, or the joke hits too close to home for some people, or even the idiots who take the joke too far. Education is our best friend and it's educating EVERYONE. That's the hard part. It isn't just one group that needs education. It's ALL groups involved.

true, but actual sexism is bad right? so when it becomes a trend to make fun of it. The real thing will gradually lose power as those who practice patriarchy can't handle that what they do is made fun of.

by doing the very thing sexist jokes jokes about.
Like ordering your gf/wife around like a servant or some **** like that and go full abusive when she talks back to ya. men who are obsessed by controlling the people he lives with. And the " get me a sammich" isn't said as a joke but as " if you don't get me a sandwich within the next 2 min ill beat the **** out of you" If guys like that gets turned into a joke they lose power.
It's the same with overcontrolling women.
#121 to #21 - anon (03/06/2014) [-]
That's not how it works at all, judging from that comment I'm willing to bet that you're a guy, and that you've never actually had sexist **** like this shoved down your throat for years, but anyway, to the point: making a joke about a serious topic does not cause the oppressor to lose power, it causes for normalization of the serious act, or more simply put: if it's joked about, it's less of a taboo hence more acceptable to do
User avatar #127 to #121 - reican (03/06/2014) [-]
Well forgive me if im wrong, but with all the sexist jokes around I am more willing to laugh it up in the face of an actual sexist and call them a joke.
To them and some others it may be called bullying but it is true.
Though real sexism is a serious thing, the one committing it is by all means a joke and a loser because they're obviously compensating for something.

User avatar #106 to #11 - derpsenderp (03/06/2014) [-]
The reason we do it is not because we crave attention, the reason we do it is because we're guys. You never get to say stuff like this in real life cause then you'll diminish your chances of getting laid with her or her friends. Over the internet it doesn't matter if you're a girl we can still joke with you, the fact girls get so pissed about small jokes makes it even funnier. Imagine someone spilling some milk and then punching the wall. That's how we see these girls getting pissed off.

TL;DR, if you don't want to listen to these mediocre sexist jokes, then use the /ignore list those are in most games nowadays.
#50 to #11 - implication (03/06/2014) [-]
You got it wrong.
Here is how it usually happens:

>girl shouts "HAII IM A GIRL XDD"
>some guy shouts "Make me a sandwich then" or "Tits or GTFO"
>girl gets all barboozled like you

'Tits or GTFO' and 'Make me a sandwich' are sentences we use to piss off witty attention whores and faggots who have the urge to whore out with their gender.

you're talking about meaningless, archetypal generalizations (like 'we didnt post that here anymore' or 'it never does') and only implicitly do you apply your universalized judgments to this present situation, while i am talking about the actual present situation which the reference relates to. i have the clear upper hand here for my judgments regarding the situation more explicitly and therefore being more applicable and relevant to the issue.

by the way cool roll
