You're a bit too fond of using red text
Could you change the Ask a Mod/Get Help link into a less annoying color?

On mobile for status drop downs, for people with longer names the little plus drops down right below their username and its very difficult to click it without clicking their username and being dragged to their page. Would it be possible to switch the order from "comment replies" to "replies comment" so that if their name is longer the whole word comment would drop down and be easier to click on.

Just easier interface for mobile only users like myself who use fj socially. Also don't need colored text for switching 2 words. Thanks

Gosh this sounds kind of confusing. I have a screenshot but I can't attach it to this page.

I'm talking about friends status' in the members area on our profile

Hi there, Admin/mods. I have to say, I do love this site. It's funny, well built, and has just about everything a growing boy needs. But I see you're having trouble with server bills. Well, I may have a solution for you.

As you may well know, not many of us enjoy using the browsers on our phones. It's clunky, slow or jsut downright unmanageable when wembs or gifs come on the page.

Now, if we were to have, say a $.99 app to download of the google play store or the app market with ads as side banners and not in anyone's face I'm sure mobile sures would appreciate it a lot more than donating to patreon or paypal. I know I'd really love to see an FJ app on the store.

So, please. Take this into consideration, and feel free to PM me for an email where we can bounce around ideas.

Thank you for reading.

Do something about the hundreds of common word accounts whose owner's left 2 comments back in 2008 and never logged in again. I'd kill a man for the username Blake.

add a tag/mention user option to content and comments
1. so people who have words for names can still see where they're mentioned without disabling notifications
2. so if you're mentioned in a content you can easily see it
2.5. and so there aren't 50 people in the comments trying to notify these people by mentioning them
3. so the "what people say about *user*" section of profiles actually has a use and isn't filled with random **** that has nothing to do with that user

Make it delayable to make content public: e.g. i can create a stack of content that i then can turn public at peak times without having to actually upload the content at that time. If i want to make a big comp i can do one half now and save it to continue working on it later and dont have to do all in one rush.
User avatar #224 - minearm (04/04/2015) [-]
just hear me out here
you don't want people to spam on /anime/ right?
and the only ones who spam are people who aren't even related to the board or people who are new there
the regulars almost always keep on topic
so if you just made it bannable to post off-topic comments no one would spam
and if you say ''posting an anime picture doesn't make it anime related'' even the guy who spams anime pictures has to stop
I can't see anything wrong with this if you want the boards to stay on topic
So if you put a sticky where it says ''Off-topic posts are bannable'' everything will (hopefully) stop
cause even now people from /vgb/ ******** on /anime/, which you told US not to do, even tho we never did anything

on patreon, many of the people use tiered donating and have rewards for certain brackets to incentivize large donations. Offer stuff like colored text for life or physical merchandise for high donators. My meaningless 2 cents
User avatar #216 - mistercookie (04/03/2015) [-]
I thought of a way that could increase good content on front page.

Add another bar on the left, where content that is 1 hour old and has more than 10 thumbs go. This will weed out the ****** content that nobody likes, and ensure the content that is good doesnt get lost in a storm of ********* . Of course, time and thumb amount required can be subjected to any change.
User avatar #217 to #216 - mistercookie (04/03/2015) [-]
Call the title "Up an coming" or something. Also add a thumb limit and time limit to the content that is there as well. For example: Only content that is 1 hour - 3 hour old, and only content between 10 and 300 thumbs. Expirement around with the numbers maybe to find out what the best combination is, but I do think this could work.

I've said this on another account, but a fantastic way to encourage users to create more FJ content that is also easily sharable is by adding a comment option that allows comments to be viewed in significantly smaller margins. This way, funny comments that happen to take up the whole page can be reduced to a size that can be uploaded as a nicer looking image after being snipped. The amount of FJ content will go up, and our comments will be more likely to be used on other popular sites which might attract more traffic.

Alright, It looks like AdBlock has been slowly killing this site for the past couple of years. Seeing how desperate you have gotten for money, I realize that it's now time to take extreme measures.

blog.stephenryan.ie/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/You-must-disable-or-remove-Adblock-to-visit-this-website.png
What I'm suggesting is adding a pop-up banner like the one above that will prevent anyone from visiting the site without first disabling the extension. As long as the ads on this site don't play should/video automatically and also don't go full screen when you over over them, I feel like this plan will work perfectly. then again, it might discourage any new visitors from going on the site.

Also. My family is broke and I need to pay for college. So you're not getting any of my money.
User avatar #211 - scorpidea (04/02/2015) [-]
How about a quick, one-click, return to top button, next to the scroll bar on right, like they have on E-bay, to get back to the top due to the, now more popular, long comps.

First of all, thanks for adding Patreon as way of donation. The $10 charge fee on Gratipay is kinda bad for me due of being a poor student.

But now for the suggestions

1# - The Patreon page needs some facelift to look good. It also needs some text. I would suggest add what FJ is, what it is about and some (good) history of the site. Also add on the page "Gradipay" as alternative way of donating

2# - Same as the Patreon page. It needs at least changed Gavatar. Also add on the page "Patreon" as alternative way of donating.

3# - Patreon perks! A good way to get users to donate is to add some perks.

The perks I would suggest:
$1 or more - Disabled ads
$5 or more - Permanent colored text and disabled ads
$15 (Or $10) or more - Disabled ads, permanent colored text and specially colored username and icon next to the username indicating that the user is a donor

You could assign some mods to take care of assigning the disabled ads, colored text and the special name color and icon.

Hey Admin,

I am a developer in finical services. I run a ****** donation website that is far less popular than Gratipay. You should let FunnyJunk users buy adfree passes. You already have an item economy. Have one of those items be a week free of ads. Or literally offer FunnyJunk Gold. Just give users a way to pay to remove ads with some extra benefits. The Escapist seems to do something similar.

Everyone seems to hate the ads, so why not give them another option?
Well, besides adblock.

On that donation page you link it has the amounts hidden. If you set it to show the cost of running the site and the current donations I would donate. I make minimum wage and can't afford to toss out money all the time but I'd send a couple bucks if you were short of the goal.

Have donations pay for site, use all non-adblocked add revenue as profit.
That's my suggestion. Posting anon and I don't want colored text if you use it. obviously a very stupid thing to do if you are actually meeting your donation requirements and are making extra. Would be useful if you aren't getting as much as you need though.
