not gonna lie. I wanted TOR to be good. I really did. but after having got/played GW2, I just can't go back to TOR and think that it's a genuinely good play experience.

At least he could have mention his fight against Lord Vitiate the Sith Emperor that sacrificed a world to get immortality.

Vader redeemed himself, but he didn't become a Jedi again.
User avatar #325 - hourlyb ONLINE (03/04/2014) [-]
Another fact that you forgot to mention:
Revan is one of the few canonical Jedi to marry out of true love, and have it sanctioned by the Jedi Consul.
User avatar #368 to #325 - icameforthepron (03/04/2014) [-]
Well not sanctioned per say...more tolerated.
User avatar #389 to #368 - hourlyb ONLINE (03/04/2014) [-]
That as close to accepting a marriage as the pre-Order 66 Jedi Concil will come.
I know that Luke married Mara Jade, but the new Jedi order seems to follow different rules
#450 to #389 - greyblade (04/03/2014) [-]
and everything for a while after the first jedi purge (immediately after KoToR II), as well as some examples around the war of Exar Kun, and then probably a few other times that I forget.

accepting marriage did happen with the jedi, but in a 20,000 year history, it just didn't make up a huge slice.

Man. I loved the KotoR RPGs, some of the first and best written games I've ever played, but I really hate all the EU and TOR stuff that's been piled on top of them over the years. None of it's really done the games any justice, imo, and most of it is just **** .

"meetra surik," revanchist, jesus christ what were they thinking
User avatar #396 to #392 - quantumsheep (03/04/2014) [-]
Also, I know everyone is getting on his case about the "only one to go dark and back again," and that he's said it's a typo and he meant to say "one of the only," but honestly, neither are true. Flip-flopping between light and dark is super ******* common in any Star Wars story, because originality and creativity is hard, and most of the EU is pretty terrible stuff. It's the standard generic character arc for star wars, there are probably half a dozen examples in the KotoR games alone.

Not to mention the whole dichotomy/philosophy is pretty stupid and childish to begin with; one of my favorite things about KotoR 2 was how thoroughly it lambasted it and explored all its failings and grey areas.

"then only Jedi to fall to the dark side and return to the light" ? I kind of remember 6 movies that say the Anakin/Vader did that as well, even if he did die right after returning to the light side
User avatar #344 to #343 - captainfuckitall (03/04/2014) [-]

#387 to #344 - paradoxander (03/04/2014) [-]

User avatar #410 to #387 - captainfuckitall (03/04/2014) [-]
"The only"
"One of the only"

It's easy to move over things like that, especially when you're already thinking of something different.
#415 to #410 - paradoxander (03/05/2014) [-]
I wouldn't call that a typo. A slip-up, maybe.

But a typo is more liek twhen yout type too fafst and get a few extra latters or 1 letter wrong sor somtehign,

Like that ^ Those are typos.

what makes Revan special is that he's not exactly a Jedi or a Sith, in the end he's kind of in the middle, think about it, Jedi believe in controlling our emotions (to the extreme, mind you), and the SIth believe in letting our passion guide us, the Revanists (and Revan himself) believe that we must listen to our emotions but without letting them control us, that we can feel fear, wrath, love, as long as they do not take over our minds
(kind of what Xavier tried to teach Magneto in "Frist Class" right?)
at least this is my interpretation of the whole thing, I hate both Jedi and Sith for being morons, whatever they say, they both work with absolutes

Many jedi have been turned from the dark side or light side, I feel what made his so much more significant was he was a sith lord and was under control from Vitiate, yet still was capable of restraining himself from doing far more reckless things such as Malak did when he took the mantle. He's also one of the best redemption stories due to having to walk the same path he had before, but from the light then going so far as to correct what he had done and confronting the Emperor.
User avatar #394 to #393 - pandawarlord (03/04/2014) [-]

#446 to #394 - greyblade (04/03/2014) [-]
also remember that when examining his assault on the republic, he left key infrastructure and political pathways intact. even when turned against the republic, he made sure that either he'd be defeated - proving the republic was strong enough to defend itself, or that when he defeated them, he'd be able to rebuild quickly and efficiently. even when under mind control and having fallen to the dark side, he did his best to keep the republic safe from the sith empire.

shame Malak went and screwed that one up.

Because Anakin was conceived through the Force, and he took his mothers last name as Skywalker, while the family line that Bastila and Revan conceived was named Shan
