Ending of both games, we aren't just talking reusing animation, that's been done in CoD before and nobody cared, but this time two games ended exactly the same way.
#254 to #250 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
Actually, that's not the ending, that's the opening scene to Ghosts.

also it appears I was misinformed, one is an opening an another is an ending, still its a large chunk of the same and it shouldn't really be done that similarly.

It's like 15 seconds, really not that long. and this particular clip was edited. They went out of their way to make them sync up perfectly.
#259 to #239 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
True,

but with the amount of income from the team, and the simplicity of animations for video games, this is really unacceptable.
User avatar #260 to #259 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
It probably takes more work to animate these video games than it does to animate Disney movies. At least with movies no one is controlling which direction the animations are moving.
#288 to #260 - Neodude ONLINE (11/08/2013) [-]
Incorrect. Disney's animations are insane. There is no way to compare the quality, complexity, and detail of a Disney film to COD, or most games in general. Doing something like this is absolutely terrible. I am currently going through an undergraduate in game design, and you know what, from all of my instructors, all of them find COD as a joke. Sure, it makes money, but here gets to be a point where, if people from EA laugh at it, ***** got some problems.
#261 to #260 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
Call of duty has been using the same animations for years.

what this was, was a WHOLE ******* SEQUENCE.

YOU DON'T DO THAT IN VIDEO GAMES

Also, they only reused animations in the older disney movies, when it was hand drawn and very time consuming.
User avatar #263 to #261 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
My point is they did it, and this sequence, which was cut and sped up so that it synced like it does, is only like 15 seconds. Why is it ok for one company to do it, but not another? Is it because so many people just autohate every new CoD game because they're stuck in the past or they're sucking Battlefag 4's dick? And no, I'm not a CoD fanboy, I am getting it, but I just hate it when people just autohate something with no actual reason.
User avatar #267 to #263 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
First, they are the bottom feeders of the gaming community.

secondly, everyone hates them because of the first.

Thirdly, When you have a huge team that makes the huge amounts of money they make, it is not acceptable for them to reuse a whole sequence from 3 games ago.
And i will suck Battlefield 4's dick. Not because of bandwagons, or fanboyism, but because it tastes better than the **** covered dick that is CoD.
User avatar #269 to #267 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
How are they the bottom feeders of the gaming community? Because they have an incredibly successful franchised that is played competitively all over the world? Why does that make them bad? Also, Disney makes exponentially more money than these guys yet they still reuse animations.
User avatar #270 to #269 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
i mean't they are the bottom feeder developers

Note: those were the hand drawn animations they reused.
the process for that was way harder to animate.
With today's technology, and how simple the animations are for the CoD series, it wouldn't have taken them too long to animate a whole different cut scene.
User avatar #271 to #270 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize that I could just pick up a new laptop and make one of the best selling franchises in video game history. My bad. And you still haven't explained why they're the bottom feeders of anything, developers or otherwise.
User avatar #272 to #271 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
because they put no effort into making their yearly games any better than the last.

with the amount of money they make, they should be using it to better their games beyond what they are putting out. Just because a game sells, doesn't mean it's of good quality.
User avatar #273 to #272 - schmitty (11/08/2013) [-]
Black Ops was great game, I only played a few hours of the story, but what I played I enjoyed. The online play was fantastic. MW was also a great game with a awesome story and amazing online. MW2 is the game everyone always compares recent CoDs to and that had pretty sweet online play too. The Zombies part of the games is also something that was innovative and very enjoyable to play. Just because you don't like a game, doesn't mean everyone else has to have the same blind hatred as you.
User avatar #274 to #273 - padawonjohn (11/08/2013) [-]
i'm not saying i hate the franchise,
i grew up playing the original Call of Duty games and medal of honor games.
After Blops 1 i realized that the games were going to continue down the same path and never change; i became a more mature gamer.
I only favor Battlefield over CoD because they at least try to make the gameplay fresh and enjoyable.
In all honesty, i really don't like playing First person shooters anymore; i prefer RPG's and games that tell a story over them.
I'm not asking people to stop liking the franchise, i'm just asking the team behind them to put more effort into their games, and act like a real video game development team.

Ghosts is a game that makes the players actually think before they act. Rushing into the enemy spawn is suicide, and people havent figured that out yet. They think it is like every other CoD, but it isnt. They hate it because it is new. The CoD hate hype will crash in a month.

Also, the graphics on PC is very good. Although you need a good computer to handle the game, it is a leap from Bops2.

The Call of Duty series may be repetitive and lacking in innovation, but at the heart of every one I've played I've had fun playing it. If you sit down, remove your pre-conceived thoughts about the series and play the game as a form of light entertainment then it is enjoyable. I find it very dumb when people boycott Call of Duty games simply because it's 'cool' to hate on them. I mean what do they want, a sticker? Congratulations, you know how to follow a bandwagon.
All they're doing is missing out on entertainment for the sake of some pointless 'gaming superiority' they have in their heads.
I still haven't got Ghosts yet, but I hope that it's as enjoyable as all the past games.

i agree great games take longer than a year such as skyrim and half life 3

also if people don't like a game and want it to die out why not just stop supporting the game flat out like no more buying games and things that support it such as apperal the consumers can actually change companies if enough of them band together and follow through

and for the last part adding features nobodies asked for? what do you want the same thing every time or like polls through out the development cycle where the people have to go exactly by every single customer i know this slightly contradicts the top but i hope you understand i mean more then one person that would be impossible for everyone to get the game they want

8 gyms, always 3 starters, the same kind of starters (fire, grass, and water) so what if the gyms aren't the same type or don't look the same the maps in call of duty rarely look the same.
plus about the pokemon how is it even possible that new pokemon are being found still some of those are huge ass dragons and yet the islands have no way of communicating with the others, but in essence they can turn a pokemon into a beam of light and place it in a ball the size of a small childs hand but can't ride a boat and meet with other professors

Biggest thing for BF4 now is more customization although you can't edit classes outside of matches now which is rather annoying. The map design as a whole has improved. Less one sided maps, and most maps have interactive aspects such as vehicle barricades that you can raise and lower.

Also elevators are a *********** , but hilarious and useful. There has been vehicule rebalancing, more vehicules such as the mobile artillery (one of my favorites).

All around I think it's an improvement although there are glitches, but there have already been patches. The campaign is only 7 missions each taking about 45 minutes to an hour. So campaign is kind of short but it is well done. Good references are made to BF3.

Call of Duty can't change. Call of Duty is Call of Duty, and that's why it's just the same product every release. The same goes for FIFA, I've never understood why EA should rip everyone off when all that changes per release are the teams and maybe a few player animations.

I have yet to play BF4 or Ghosts, but the reason I'm looking more forward to BF4 is simply because it's more of just a run and gun game. The maps are bigger, more beautiful, the animation is so much less jerky and you get vehicles.

And above you would see bitter people who believe call of duty repeats itself with laziness. Call of duty is its own entity in the sense that it has revolutionized first person shooters. You can argue that the idea is not original, but neither are yours and probably will never be revolutionary. The companies whom collaborate in call of duty take turns creating the new call of duty so there is no exhaustion just because "they try to pump out a new game every year". Repetition is powerful and perfectly fine in literature so why can't everyone respect the artistry and treat video games with the same respect they deserve?

1) Gameplay really hasn't changed since CoD 4.
2) Only now are they using a new graphics engine since then.
3) The only thing revolutionary about CoD was when CoD 4 was set in modern times, thus ending the era of WW2 games.
4) The games are developed by two separate companies each year, yet they still play exactly the same.
5) Putting out a game every year is different from putting out a new book every year. Games take a lot longer to make and a lot more people. A book only takes one person to write and doesn't take very long to do in the first place depending on the writer.

CoD Ghosts didn't use a new Engine. It's still the same old Engine like always, just a bit better.
