You can't though. All ESSENTIAL parts of government don't close down unless this stems on past a week. Police, medics, ect.

Happens all the time (well last time was in the 90's I believe.)

Government shuts down because it can't reach bi-partisan agreement on whatever it may be, usually debt ceilings. This time it's about Obamacare and a little bit about debt ceilings.

Basically direct paid government workers go on leave and don't get paid. Federal services like mail, garbage etc still work though.

They even put the Curiosity Rover on Mars in Sleep Mode as a result of this ********. This is exactly why the founding fathers didn't want political parties.

"The most ridiculous thing about this is that roughly 60-65% of *congresspeople* oppose shutdown tied to health care cuts. If it weren't for Boehner's slavish compliance to the Hastert doctrine, this whole thing would be over already. We've literally let 40 nutjobs shut the government down."

Good news: your life was never dependent on the government. Now you'll get to realize it.

Maybe not, but several hundred thousand people are paid to work for the government, national parks and monuments promote tourism and provide customers for many small businesses. You're and idiot if you think a shutdown won't affect anything.

The government shutting down may sound exciting.............
It just doesn't work like the way you would imagine it would.
