feet per second is a velocity not a time. I think you should have to pass an intelligence test to own a gun.

it gives a relative comparison between a person getting to your threat and a bullet getting to your threat. i could say that the cop is traveling at 70 mph (if he feels like it) and his is at a location that will take him 23 minutes to arrive OR i could say that the bullet will take less than a fraction of a second to reach your treat BUT putting it this way lets you envision the events better.

To the layman it makes sense
because it tells you that the police will take 23 minutes
A bullet will take less than a second

The thing I always hate in movies is when someone pulls a gun on someone, and gives them a chance to respond or say final words, and it leads to them getting away. Half the time they don't even have it ready to fire yet.

When you're in that situation, the gun should already have the safety off, be cocked if necessary, and ready to fire. The second you have a chance, you don't let them speak, and you make SURE they're dead. Put a second round in the center of the head, make god damn sure they aren't getting back up. It may be inhumane or messy, but its better than leaving anything to chance. Plus, if they survive, they could sue - so make sure they die.

Always be prepared to kill. And make sure you're not going to be too ************ to pull the trigger and finish the job when you pull your weapon.

Don't ever put someone on the other end of the barrel that doesn't deserve to die, but the second you do, you make sure they die as fast as god damn possible.

well in any case guns should only be used if you know that someone means to take your life or the life of someone you love, not to play hero in a situation of no life-threatening danger.

Everybody in the comments is completely missing the point. these are rules of gun fighting. you can own a gun forever and never get into a gunfight, but if the situation rises at least you have some pointers. so stop crying about guns and go drink your ****** tea

Yeah see what happens when someone breaks into your house, and it is like "whoa some one is breaking into my house! I better call the cops to try catch a guy that will most likely get away while I wait for the cops to arrive!"

Posts like these make me afraid that someday I will inadvertently provoke someone into shooting me just because of the whole "better safe than sorry" motto and I am just not so down with that.
