Getting everything takes bloody ages though. With the randomness of the drops you're not gonna have all that fun with it.

Most MMORPG at least have a progression where you will reach the end without the world ending on you.
#392 to #386 - anon (07/25/2013) [-]
Why do you want to get everything ?
User avatar #369 - zytherman (07/25/2013) [-]
Not exactly full extent of the content, you need to pay money (Or previously have the game) to unlock all the pro account features (Such as rare drops, bigger backpack space etc)
User avatar #380 to #369 - drego (07/25/2013) [-]
True, I just bought the 50 cent wrangler for that though

They are the creators of Steam and already make **** tons of money already.
User avatar #195 - turtlecat (07/25/2013) [-]
You can buy something for 49 cents and become premium. Then get any item you want, but it'll take a ******** of time, either by trading or crafting. The post did say you didn't have to spend a single dollar, but nothing about spending a single cent.
User avatar #192 - hangchangpang (07/25/2013) [-]
is this true
User avatar #174 - Nihatclodra (07/25/2013) [-]
Except you can't. You are INCREDIBLY limited when it comes to items you can get/hold without buying anything. Without buying anything for TF2: you can only get common drops, and hold 50 items at a time. You can't even trade the items you have, and I don't believe you can craft items either.
User avatar #180 to #174 - tigerrish (07/25/2013) [-]
You can craft common weapons, but not hats or rare items.
User avatar #181 to #180 - Nihatclodra (07/25/2013) [-]
Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't try crafting at all before I bought something for the game and got upgraded.
User avatar #203 to #174 - mydogpikachu (07/25/2013) [-]
ever since the update f2ps can trade
User avatar #233 to #203 - Nihatclodra (07/25/2013) [-]
... wut? You mean I bought a Mann-up ticket a month ago for nothing?
#172 - anon (07/25/2013) [-]
...Implying F2P players can obtain items such as unusuals, Gentle Manne Service Medals, Earbuds, Bill's Hats, stranges, etc...
By no means do I think these are important gameplay elements, but once you get into collecting cosmetics... You just can't get a hold of enough hats.

I legit came on FunnyJunk while waiting for this to download.

can you get keys to crates randomly too? i got a crate but the only way to get a key that i saw was to buy one. im a nub so i dont know these things.
User avatar #150 to #143 - tiberia (07/25/2013) [-]
no you cant, however you can trade your items with other players for keys
User avatar #177 to #150 - Nihatclodra (07/25/2013) [-]
You're not allowed to trade your dropped items without buying something is the TF2 store first. So, no.
#137 - anonymousdoctor (07/25/2013) [-]
I agree, they are doing it right
#134 - lininop (07/25/2013) [-]

Until you reach your full 50 item slots and get afraid to play because you don't wanna get a good item and have to delete or scrap one.
#59 - anon (07/24/2013) [-]
The awesome part is: To get premium ,it really only costs you 36 cents. Rent a weapon, buy said weapon for a discount. 36 cents to get more backpack space, hat drops, and to be addicted to opening boxes.
#54 - anon (07/24/2013) [-]
But you can't hold more than 50 of those items.
#12 - anon (07/24/2013) [-]
"You can play the game to the full extent and get all the items without paying a single dollar"
listen to what you just ******* wrote. first of all, to get the mann co cap, you gotta buy something form the store, same thing to get premium
second, you have to buy KEYS to get hats, unusuals, stranges, and parts.
Third, Hats are VERY hard to find, its easier to just buy them
not everything is ******* free, retard

Ever tried using Horseless Headless Horseman's Axe as a F2P? No? I thought not. And what I mean by this is I'm pretty sure certain weapons are only allowed for paid to play.

The Headtaker is just a reskin of the Eyelander(which you can get from drops)
User avatar #201 to #196 - makotoitou (07/25/2013) [-]
It's an Eyelander reskin. Paying for cosmetics is ok since it doesn't effect balance or anything.

I thought the crafting recipe was just a halloween drop mixed with 2 or 3 refined metals. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.
User avatar #208 to #207 - derpishb (07/25/2013) [-]
No, you need the Scottman's skull cutter and a haunted metal scrap. The skull cutter can be found, the metal however, is f*cking difficult to get.
#213 to #208 - garrettdaviss ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
You get it from killing the Horseless headless horseman during the halloween events right? I can't remember, I got my haunted metal scrap back in like 2011. /: Either way though, I'm pretty sure you can still acquire the haunted metal scrap as a f2p.
User avatar #220 to #213 - exclamation (07/25/2013) [-]
You can on servers that have the HHH year-round. The crafting recipe is under "Special," so F2P can't use it.
User avatar #217 to #213 - derpishb (07/25/2013) [-]
You need to melee kill him, but that's the f*cking problem, if he turns while you're running at him considered yourself dead.
#222 to #217 - garrettdaviss ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
Thanks for the memory refresher friend. (: I remember being new to the game and just running around hitting **** with the holy mackeral. I think I actually saw some guy meleeing him so I joined him, took his kill, and gained his achievement/metal.

User avatar #209 to #196 - MoooP ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
You can't buy it, you have to craft it with an achievement item and metal. Metal is from drops. If you're going to say you have to buy it you might as well say you have to buy any other weapon since you might not get it as a drop.
User avatar #210 to #209 - derpishb (07/25/2013) [-]
I meant you need to have paid for your account to be premium, you can't be F2P to craft it.
User avatar #212 to #210 - MoooP ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
I was under the impression F2P were allowed to craft weapons? IDK I bought the game so I may be wrong. Plus it's still just a reskin.
User avatar #225 to #212 - dragostarc ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
It's in the "special" catergory of crafting, opening up after the user becomes premium. along with the ability to craft hats and certain special/rare items
User avatar #216 to #212 - derpishb (07/25/2013) [-]
F2P's can craft, but for some reason valve thought it best to make them pay for
A) crafting certain items
B) going onto certain PREMIUM ONLY servers
User avatar #269 to #216 - phantomeins (07/25/2013) [-]
Those servers aren't always owned by valve, community owned servers have the right to set whether or not f2p players can go on their server.
User avatar #293 to #269 - derpishb (07/25/2013) [-]
I repeat: CERTAIN. I understand what you mean, but only CERTAIN servers you need to be premium.
