I dislike the amount of 'murica in this post. You have luxury during war in comparison to other countries.

Ya, I don't understand the American public. They all support the military and usually all the wars they are in but then whine when a majority of these people end up dead or messed up. This stuff wouldn't happen if we didn't blindly support the military all the damn time.

No, this wouldn't happen if the American public didn't elect corrupt and idiotic leaders all the time.

It's about economics, not the governments. Regardless of who is in power in consumerist countries, trade is what holds up the value of their currency. Because consumerist countries have abandoned most of their industry to enjoy luxury life, they have to control means of exchange and world trade. Hence why the world oil trade is dealt with exclusively in US dollars and why they invaded Iraq after they changed to trading their oil in Euros. I bet no one heard that on the news. Basically, to keep those nations functioning, they have to control, occasionally under the cloak of war, world economics.

hard to blame her though, just imagine that you're in her position. it must be really hard to care for (physically and emotionally) a disabled man, many people fail while trying to do that. it is very sad for the man, but it's (unfortunately) understandable.

The 7th one, I'll admit that that guy is ugly as ****, however, I'll have to say that the woman deserves something for staying with him. A lot of people would've said **** him, he's ugly now. So good on her for that.

My whole life I've aspired to be in the U.S.M.C
But now that the time's here, I keep doubting myself
I don't know if I'm trying to talk myself out of it, or what I'm doing.
I feel like it's something I need to do, and it doesn't bother me thinking about it.
But if something were to happen, what would I be leaving behind?..

A potentially long and happy life.

Honestly, it ain't worth it. Why would you be a politician's tool in its most raw form?

If you want to protect the people who live there, then go and become a fireman, a policeman, something that involves domestic duty.

For me, the line "I protect my people at home" while being 3000 km away in a war in another country (mind you I'm letting the debate of national sovereignity aside) is more than trite, it's nothing but a big dirty, stinky lie that they shove into your head so that you feel better about doing that kind of duty.

Also I fail to see how you're serving the country and NOT the people in big chairs, by fulfilling orders that come from across the Ocean from a person who never even ever saw the damn front you're on.

It's more than stupid, it's idiotic. I may sound like a ******* hippie for saying this, but truth be told, there were be less wars if less people were so eager to sign up for draft.

No, no, you have a completely valid point.
But there will always be war, and a lot of it, because politicians and countries will never fully see eye to eye.
Just because people aren't willingly enlisting wont mean war will slow down, countries will just put a draft in to effect

Go Navy bro. I love the Marines but you'll have an extremely hard time finding a job when you get out. And then there are all the dumb jokes about Marines

Anyway I go to basic in a week and this is my opinion

One thing I hear about Navy though is it is boring as hell. Like all of you on a boat packed like sardines doing absolutely nothing because there is nothing to do, but you're going to sail around to maintain presence, boring.

In the US an Army Private is given ~$18k pa, in the UK, ours get ~£18k pa, now note the different currencies, so yours get around £13/14k pa no? No one can survive easily on that amount of money.
