Well, it's a good thing that the network has no stance, because they said both "cracker" and " ****** " fully, not doing something silly and inane like censoring only one word.

Cracker is just short for "whip-cracker"

It's kind of like a complement

Obviously this media outlet thinks ****** is worse because they have to say "n-word" but don't say "c-word" instead of cracker.

In my experience those types of people are raised to feel entitled as you've said. Either that or they refuse to accept that they've done nothing with their lives and instead seek some vague presence like the white man to place blame on instead of owning up to their failure (which we can all be guilty of on occasion on some scale; everyone wants a scapegoat sometimes).

And white guilt is alive and well, albeit utterly unjustified. We all know that you shouldn't be allowed to profit from a situation that has never affected you, yet programs like affirmative action show that even if you don't perform as well as others, you can still profit from actions that took place decades before you were born. The media further reinforces this sort of thing by typically being utterly horrified of ever saying anything negative about non-white people.

On a final note, the whole Trayvon Martin case is totally ****** as of now. You can't, nor will you be likely to, find any reliable evidence to tip the scales one way or the other. Zimmerman will probably get off for his idiocy, but then unfortunately some other idiot is likely going to pull a gun on him, possibly resulting in some rioting by other idiots.

TL;DR: People who come from bad situations can be idiots. People who come from bad situations in large groups can be very dangerous idiots.

see, i feel as though white guilt is only aivein the sense of the media, like you said. any bignews program will definetly be biased to make it seem like we still feel guilty , but I feel like the commom people dont give **** anymore, at least from what ive seen.

1) It's called a "Victim Status". Blacks just use it WAY more often than any other race or group, because it's easier to blame other people for a ****** situation than admit you may have ****** up somewhere. It's becoming a part of the culture. That's why when blacks riot, they break their own **** . Not anything that belongs to the "White Man", but their own possessions and areas.

2) White guilt hasn't disappeared. Just...No. White people will make ourselves feel guilty about any little thing, and we'll cave when people accuse us of **** , no matter how crazy it sounds.

3) The Trayvon/Zimmerman thing is a media bias. Martin's supporters are making it racial. If the media was presenting their biased opinion because of a racial agenda, then most outlets are doing a damn fine job of covering it up.

tl;dr You're fairly close.

And just before I click "reply", I think I'm ready to accept the flurry of red thumbs coming my way.

If you are willing to say the word "cracker" but will only say the first letter of the word " ****** ", " ****** " is clearly worse.
User avatar #175 - treydogg (07/03/2013) [-]
****** is worse. Cracker was the term the slaves used for the guy with the whip as he would crack it on their asses for acting up.
User avatar #198 to #175 - xjessicaxrabbitx (07/03/2013) [-]
It was actually a term for white people given by white people. Irish and Scottish in the early Americans colonies were generally indentured servants or children of indentured servants and looked down upon. There is a theory that it did eventually move on to be the term for white people because of overseers cracking whips, and another theory that it comes from cowboys cracking whips at cattle. It's never easy tot ell the origin of words because language changes over time and there's no committee set up that decides. It just evolves.
#163 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
Are people actually offended by the term cracker?
User avatar #165 to #163 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
Yes. I find it irritating that other people can be offended when a racial slur is used, but I can't be. I'm more angry at the double standard than at the word though.
User avatar #169 to #165 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
As a white man, I've never understood why other white people want the right to be offended. It just seems silly and petty.
User avatar #171 to #169 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
Because the words, "That offends me" Have become the best way to gain power over another person. If you really want to exert your power over another person, find something that they're saying that could be taken out of context or twisted into a slur and mention that it offends you. You'll have them eating out of your hand, when in reality there is no real reason for them to care, especially if they meant no offense.

It's the same thing that happens when you try and put limits on a conversation by saying things like, "We don't have time for a meeting of the flat earthers." You automatically own the high moral and intellectual ground based on a single sentence, and if you attempt to oppose this sentence you automatically become an opposer of the common sense.
User avatar #173 to #171 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
So you want something to use out of context and say you're offended by too?
User avatar #176 to #173 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
I'm just saying that if you want power over someone, then either call them out by saying that they're offending you, or limit the conversation in such a way that they can't argue a point efficiently.
User avatar #177 to #176 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
Well if you're arguing with a black guy, just don't call them a ****** .
User avatar #180 to #177 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
That's not even my point. Let's pretend that everyone on earth is green, and there are no racial slurs. There would still be ways to twist another person's words around and make them sound offensive. The person who is best a twisting another persons words will win more.
User avatar #181 to #180 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
Yeah but that doesn't mean cracker is more offensive than ****** .
User avatar #182 to #181 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
The double standard exists. Both are derogatory to a certain race. Both should never be used, yet one will get you accused of a hate crime, and one will be completely passed off. That is what is irritating.
User avatar #184 to #182 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
Cracker seems more like a joke than anything. If someone called me a cracker I imagine I would just laugh.
User avatar #189 to #184 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
I've been called cracker before, and I didn't fly off the handle either. It's just the double standard that society has created around the tow words that is annoying.

I've got to go to work, so it'll be awhile before I can reply.
User avatar #191 to #189 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
I can understand the double standard thing, it's just I don't really think it applies to the words cracker and ****** . One is offensive and the other is just silly.
User avatar #195 to #191 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
Both are silly. The idea that racial slurs exist is mind boggling.
User avatar #196 to #195 - lowlifescarecrow (07/03/2013) [-]
Not really. Saying ****** is pretty bad.
User avatar #332 to #196 - thelastamerican ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
WHY is it bad? Why do we continue to allow it to hold any power at all in this day and age? There is no reason for either term. They're both rude and shouldn't be used at all.
User avatar #344 to #332 - lowlifescarecrow (07/04/2013) [-]
It's pretty easy to just not say ****** to a black man, and it obviously offends a lot of them and for good reason. There's history behind it, and although racism isn't as common now, some people do still use the word in a derogatory way.
User avatar #120 - tabarzins (07/02/2013) [-]
******* is worse than crackers
but as key & peele said "racist" is the " ****** " for white people
