I love how you can pray for someone something and then feel good about yourself later because yes, it does matter that you do care. But sending imaginary help to someone who needs REAL aid is bs, if you have the means to help even the slightest. Yes. A dollar is worth more.

Not a big fan of Ricky Gervais....then I looked at the comments section..... decided to stay quiet.

Is it just me or is the oklahoma tornado getting more attention and aid than hurricane sandy did?
I live in England so correct me if I'm wrong, just seems that way from over here.
User avatar #69 to #59 - stallwallwriter (05/22/2013) [-]
Well, I don't know about your media, but I live up the east coast in Canada and it seems like there's been much less coverage than hurricane Sandy. Part of it, I think, is that they could see Sandy coming a bit in advance, whereas the Oklahoma tornado was sudden.
Although it unfortunately killed many more people.

New Yorker Here.

New York has better infrastructure than Oklahoma, we recovered within a few days, and the same goes for New Jersey.

Oklahoma is in the middle of ******* nowhere, so it's a little more serious since Aid isn't a block away.

Why do butt hurt Christians bother commenting on post like these? And is Ricky really being an asshole? simply because he is trying to make a valid point?
User avatar #183 to #92 - skubasteve (05/22/2013) [-]
Probably sick and fed up with people telling them that their beliefs are wrong, even when its trying to be used in such a way of making them a better person. A good chunk of Christians on here don't really care one way or the other because they realize that being a better person in the end is all that really matters.
#196 to #183 - xinquisitor (05/23/2013) [-]
Do you know what I do when I see people post something about their beliefs? I ignore it. You are entitled to your beliefs just as I am entitled to my opinions. All I am saying is posting some angry comment because somebody made fun of your beliefs just starts flame wars. *shrugs* not trying to dis anyone just saying

Care man, Christians of funnyjunk wield fiery thumbs of red.

Turning the other cheeks for these people is a done deal.
User avatar #38 - PubLandlord (05/22/2013) [-]
Praying is an easy way to make you feel better about yourself and provide no help to those people whatsoever.

Everyone feels bad for the people in Oklahoma , so what ? if you don't do anything to help out your feelings count for **** .

People think it makes them a better person by thinking "thats so awful" , or putting up a status, it's such ********

I still dont understand why americans build those crappy houses...

Build one out of concrete as every other civilised nation does and there would be less problems with tornados...
#30 to #22 - retardedtriforce (05/22/2013) [-]
What about weathering?
#34 to #30 - sheriffhd (05/22/2013) [-]
What about wood rot?

Weathering is usually fixed by rendering the brick work again.

Its just cheaper to build a house from wood than brick.
User avatar #51 to #22 - rhiaanor ONLINE (05/22/2013) [-]
This anon is quite correct, especially in places where tornados are common.
#56 to #22 - anon (05/22/2013) [-]
It's not as if all our buildings are made of wood. Plenty of our buildings/houses are made of brick or concrete, and with a tornado, it simply does not matter. You'll see just as many brick buildings destroyed as wood buildings. A small tornado hit a town about 10 miles from where I live and destroyed part of the hospital (thick concrete building) and the library was completely destroyed (all brick). There were numerous other brick buildings around that got destroyed too, and it was a relatively weak tornado compared to most.
User avatar #25 to #22 - mymiddleleg (05/22/2013) [-]
I see you'r point but even concrete houses would of got ripped apart put that Tornado
#33 to #25 - sheriffhd (05/22/2013) [-]
Well, you see brick houses in tornado zones have metal supports laid in the brick work. Its gives it strength from what a tornado would throw at it. Not everything, but most of it.

Prayers get you nowhere.
Prayers are not the currency of earth.
Prayers are **** in cases like this.
People in situations like this need money so they can get on their feet.

That and it was a good joke
