In the U.S.A, is it true that you can take the drivers license test in a auto gear vehicle?
#214 to #208 - jimbarracus (05/19/2013) [-]
not only there, it is possible in several countries
in germany for example, but you are only allowed to drive auto, when you learn to drive on such a car

ah ok. That makes me feel safer.

As a norwegian i have to say it's partly true, we stopped using our feet in the late 50's here in norway seeing as it was just a lot of work using both feet and dick whilst driving. It is because of this they say that norwegians are wild beast in bed.
User avatar #22 to #3 - defeats (05/18/2013) [-]
I have never heard them say that...

dont all cars have the little pedal off to the left like that?
User avatar #162 to #160 - YoDawgWeHeard (05/19/2013) [-]
Nope. Some cars have one that is not a clutch, but the emergency/parking break. Rarely is it used, unlike in this case with the clutch. The clutch is used in standards, or stick-shifts which manly men drive, such as myself, and is necessary for vehicular movement.

wait so...when you drive to get your license you learn automatic only?

One would think that if you're going to be driving around in a ton of steel at high speeds you would learn the hardest way of driving.

-You get good at driving manual
-You get even better at automatic.
-Win/win
#156 to #97 - mwsorensen (05/19/2013) [-]
Personally i don't really care which having driven both i now own an automatic mostly because i drive cross country and its nice to just click on cruise control when your driving for 8 hours straight. also i don't think it matters which one you learn on because ****** drivers are always going to be ****** drivers and if your a good driver it doesn't matter which one you learn on
User avatar #170 to #156 - oliverbass (05/19/2013) [-]
Cars with manual gearboxes have cruise control too. Just sayin'.
Still, an automatic is more convenient.

Learning on an Auto should be illegal, Manual should be known by all, most cars are manual.

I agree with what you say, but the vast majority of cars in America (at least the parts I've been to) are automatic

only england and countries that were part of the english empire at one point have right hand drive for the most part, everywhere else is "normal" (which is relative)
User avatar #141 to #140 - arizonastar (05/19/2013) [-]
and also Manual shift is the norm in Europe compared to the united states where its almost the opposite.
User avatar #173 to #141 - anteatereatingants (05/19/2013) [-]
It's totally the opposite. I'm in the US and I drive a manual. Most (not all, granted) of my friends are mystified. The only people you can count on knowing how to drive a stick here are guys who are around cars all the time.

Australian, It's a manual car.... It's more common than not for people here to have an automatic.

Amerifats are so lazy that they **** themselves when they see an manual? wow.

Did you just pull 60% out of your ass?
User avatar #31 to #30 - kridane (05/18/2013) [-]
Don't lie, most people in North america are too lazy to drive manual, I only know a few people who drive manual and the'yre all in their 20s.
User avatar #32 to #31 - AvatarAirBender (05/18/2013) [-]
I learned to drive in a manual and my neighbors have 3. I can spot at least 5 on my street alone..

You have to understand that a lot of americans drive SUV's and Trucks which are widely automatic for ease of driving and hauling. Same with minivans. The only manual cars here are small cars and small trucks.
#34 to #32 - Rascal (05/18/2013) [-]
your neighbours are pretty pimpin if they have that sorta scrilla
#45 to #30 - Rascal (05/19/2013) [-]
That's not really a percentage to be proud of, 40 percent are still auto.

Also, manual asshole.
