A welder friend? I hope he dont do that for a living, those seems like some rather bad weldings haha.
Uneven edges and weld in the wrong direction

Unless OP is the Hulk or the Juggernaut (more like the Dicksuckernaut, am I right?) I don't think it matters if the welding is ****.

He might've just done a **** job because the whole point of it was to be a prank, and he wasn't getting paid to do it properly?

Also, he'd be sort of an asshole if he welded it so fit that it was damn near impossible to get at.

"Getting paid to do it properly" - rofl, an educated welder can hardly do such a bad work on purpose ;)

far shorter than the amount of time to create the thing.

Sometimes they lock bottles in cages for raffle prizes at clubs. IE winner gets the key to open the cage. Maybe he made one of those?

Just a thought.

The welds on the middle bar look relatively weak, and I have an drill that can go through metal, I'd have to be careful, but I might be able to remover the bar without damaging the bottle.

Well, that is dastardly. I have spent at least 5 minutes trying to think of a way to pop that open without having to take it out of the cage. I got nothing.

Well the bars look at least big enough to get part of your hand in there. Could probably take a knife, open it, then tilt the bottle to pour into a glass.
