Fixed. If it was north, you wouldn't be able to see the Red Spot.

And people wonder why I find space so ****** awesome. I think it'd be awesome to live on a planet with rings or a moon next to a planet... with ring. XD

The universe = coolest thing ever.

If there were a moon within the ring, it'd be possible, albeit extremely dangerous, but generally the ring is made up of tons and tons of small rocks.

User avatar #285 - danniegurl (05/08/2013) [-]

How are they able to get a picture of Saturn with the sun on the other side? At no point in our orbit EVER has there been a point where Saturn is between us and the sun. And I know we haven't sent anything out that far....have we?

Voyager

I don't remember which year, but that was a picture taken by Voyager a couple decades ago. I BELIEVE it's the only space craft to ever leave the solar system.
User avatar #280 to #278 - jazzspeaks (05/08/2013) [-]
Ok, yeah, I found it.

1977, two space probes, Voyager 1 and 2

*grade 4 me scoffs* "...Uranus"

I've seen all of these except Jupiter's North Pole, and Saturn and Uranus in infrared light, which was interesting as **** .
My only complaint with posts like these is a matter of quality. I collect pictures like this. This is like a fat person being forced to stare at the window of a really awesome candy store, and being told that they can't have it.

Now I feel compelled to search each of these individually and finding the images I want. o_e
Here, have a picture of the Eskimo Nebula. I have more if anyone wants me to post them.
#240 to #233 - articulate (05/08/2013) [-]
Sure, why not. I'll post wallapapers in return that are, afaik, not real.

Got any more like that?

This one and the next one I'll post are my favourites.
#253 to #251 - zurk (05/08/2013) [-]
This one's probably edited, but it's similar. I have similar pictures from the ISS.
To save you a lot of trouble, this is where I get most of my pics:

Though it sometimes takes a long time to load.
