i didn't actually know we did but my boyfriend talks about his job a lot and i don't really listen but for some reason i vaguely remember him talking about a 'financial ombudsman' when he was waffling about work one day. i should listen more

It's some one hired by the government to carry out certain tasks (usually in regulating something or someone) but is also slightly independant

omm-buds-mann

wat.

i did not know this
User avatar #26 to #25 - zombiestookmybike (04/30/2013) [-]
seriously we use this word. what does it mean for you..?
User avatar #27 to #26 - ost (04/30/2013) [-]
Ombud means representative, and man (mann) means man. So, basically the man in charge of a specific ministry or so.
User avatar #28 to #27 - zombiestookmybike (04/30/2013) [-]
same thing here
User avatar #29 to #28 - ost (04/30/2013) [-]
very odd indeed, i mean you can break ombud down into "om" and "bud" too. "om" means "about" basically, and "bud" means command, more or less...
User avatar #30 to #29 - zombiestookmybike (04/30/2013) [-]
we don't break it down like that, it's literally just a word for us. om, and bud don't mean anything here
User avatar #31 to #30 - ost (04/30/2013) [-]
yeah i know, thats why its so strange that you use it
User avatar #32 to #31 - zombiestookmybike (04/30/2013) [-]

Maybe he's terrible at his job...

Because he keeps leaving them and never gets any further experience at them! I bet he would have been a better dinosaur supervisor in "Jurassic Park II" and "Jurassic Park III" if he'd learned from his mistakes from the first time!

I may or may not get a lot of hate for saying this, but I really dislike Bates Motel. I thought the concept was brilliant when I saw that they were releasing it until I started watching it. I thought they were actually going to go back in time and give a legitimate beginning to the events of Psycho (which remains one of my favourite horror movies), just to find out it was based in present time. Wicked disappointment to me...

I hate to be that guy, but the only one of these films he worked on was Jurassic Park, as 'dinosaur supervisor', because he's an animator and he was in charge of making them be dinosaury and stuff. He won an Oscar for similar work in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,
User avatar #47 to #42 - theuglypanda ONLINE (04/30/2013) [-]
I don't think anyone really thought he was working with dinosaurs, I think it was just that credits are normally pretty serious and then each one of these is very light.
Kinda like in Pulp Fiction where the Coffee Shop Manager is only listed as the Coffee Shop in the credits.
I like pulp fiction
User avatar #50 to #47 - misterymisterman (04/30/2013) [-]
Yes, but each one of these, bar the first, is also very fake - Phil Tippett wasn't part of any of these films, bar Jurassic Park. I do understand the joke, don't worry.
User avatar #76 to #50 - theuglypanda ONLINE (05/01/2013) [-]
So you know how you do something thinking it was a good idea and come back later only to see that what you did was actually retarded.
Yeah, that's how I feel now
