The problem today is that people can't tell the difference between opinions and good old fashioned stupidity.

Opinion: "I didn't care for The Dark Knight series."
"Really? I liked those movies."

Stupidity: "I loved The Dark Knight series because of it's portrayal of a woman's struggle while dealing with a miscarriage and drug abuse"
"What the...?"

It's like with my opinion that in a murder or manslaughter case where the victim is a midget, the convicted's sentence should be halved.

Like the "I believe God created everything" creationism, or ******* biblical literalist "lol nope everything science is ******** " creationism?
#128 to #125 - slowpokerfast (04/22/2013) [-]
The latter, I'm talking "hurr durr the earth was created 6000 years ago carbon dating is wrong" kinda creationism.

Ugh. The way I see it, if your beliefs can fit in with modern science, you're doing it right.
If they require you to ignore several hundred to thousand years of scientific advances and progress, you're definitely not doing it right.

I'm an objective realist.

Both extremes of the liberal/conservative scale make me want to light things on fire.

The liberal and conservative political labels are ridiculous. People bend their own viewpoints and morals (not that this matters, morality is inherently false), in order to align with a spot on the political spectrum. The most tolerable region of political ideals, in my opinion, is libertarian. They, at least, try to keep their noses out of people's business and are less hindering to a free market.

I base my political views on a scientific and objective observation of the world, not on emotions or petty, ridiculous ideals.

Libertarians all right, until the psychotic ones start insisting that the government is out to get us and find the "fascism" in anything and everything.

That is the exact face I had when a very close friend I hadn't talked to in a few years (and I heard had been going through therapy and mental issues for a while) started to describe to me his conspiracy theories centered around the Jews and for some reason John Lennon. Long story short, after a rant on domestic abuse he says "You know, I'd consider Hitler to be a much better role model than John Lennon."

I am positive that he was dead-ass ******* serious
