Was glad to be locked in. Not a fascist police state, it was a manhunt for a dangerous Chechen on the run in Watertown; they didn't want people on the street in case he either hurt them or they impeded police. Honestly couldn't be prouder to live in Boston right now. ****** awesome city.

It's pretty clear you weren't given a choice of consent for them to search through your house. So far we know at least 2 people have been arrested from not allowing the police search their homes (excluding the people in the video, which seem they didn't have a choice and is unknown if they were arrested).
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
Funny how a city whose citizens originally took up arms to fight for our liberities are now inhabited by statist who give it up. For what? A bomber? A bomber which the police didn't find until someone who went outside and found blood on their boat and reported it to the police?
In the words of a wise Asian "shamefur dispray"

-They were not arrested, they were apprehended
-The Feds (which is the FBI) have had the power to search, interrogate, arrest whoever wherever however they want since 9/11. They are not breaking any laws, they are merely exercising the extent of their power
-We took up arms against a nation that forced themselves into our homes, pillaged the place, and would repeat in a near cyclic manner. This was a one time incident to catch a suspected terrorist.
-The Feds, police, and military largely work off human intelligence. While I was deployed, it was better to take intelligence from the local elders than rely on patrols. To catch a single man who had an 8 hour head start is an accomplishment

Best part of that is if they had found the guy who was looking at his boat before he found the bomber, they'd have arrested him for violating the order to stay inside and would have most likely missed the bomber thereby increasing Boston's lockdown.

Americans (of which I am too) are complex political creatures.

Always afraid of the "impending police state", yet we love our cops and soldiers.

theres a page i subcribe to that was complaining about this. when it comes to **** like a terror attack and the guys are on the lose i have no problem chilling in my house. id have done so even if the cops didnt say everyone had to stay in. id be posted up in the corner of my living room with the biggest knife i have or if i had a gun then i would have the gun just playing video games eating hot pockets and watching out for the guy. i believe the police in this country can go overboard, but in this instance i say good job to all of them and they handled it excellently

It still has to pass the Senate, which is doubtful, and even then Obama will most likely Veto it. Worst comes to worse we as a people come together and get this case sent to the Supreme Court. You're overreacting.

The 8 month old baby I babysit pretty much relies on milk, and the older kids (3,4,8) WILL NOT sleep without chocolate milk. So while it's definitely not crucial to their survival, what the police did was very nice and could have been much more appreciated than just the fact that they could have cereal.

After Katrina we were held up in our house, our area wasn't badly damaged and was not flooded. The military went around through the neighborhood and confiscated all the weapons. They confiscated our weapons and held us at gun point as if we were criminals.

All the guns were legal. And we never got ANY of them back. My dad lost his rifle that was passed down from his great grandfather. It was a civil war relic, the very weapon he carried on his back during that war.

tl;dr, it wasn't right. They had no business doing that to us or to anyone.

Ladies and gentlemen...this is proof Americans hate being challenged about their belief in a loving government.

I can even point out verifiable facts and Americans will completely ignore them so they can continue on living in their happy little fantasy world.

It is disgusting to see this amount of ignorance and denial.

my dad's friend from new orleans was a police sniper during katrina. when people were looting the stores they announced over loud speakers that anyone out after dark would be shot. most people stayed out but they actually shot and killed dozens of people in the street who were looting stores.
