>:| are you not understanding this? or are you trollin? cause in case you missed it...you said "Why would you go through the trouble to fix a piece of **** " when they aren't pieces of **** , just cause they are kind of overpriced doesn't make them bad. they will and can play games just as well as any other computer its just not what its built for. As nice peter (Rapping as Steve Jobs) once said "A man uses the machines I build to listen to the Beatles while he relaxes" not "A man uses the machines I build to sit down and kick some ass on COD and Crysis" A Mac is completely compatible with the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and iPad mini using cloud storage which makes them incredibly convenient if you're in college and have an iPad and iPhone and you are using it for work or taking notes and such because they simultaneously update your notes on all your other apple devices to make them the same so you don't have to use your computer to look at your notes. A couple reasons why they are priced so high is durability, compatibility, look, design, the brand, and the screen. When you buy a Mac it isn't going to be the best at gaming or like torrenting **** because apple is against that (heaven forbid they make money) but as a work laptop it's probably better than a HP, Dell, Alienware, and all those other non-Mac computers. I'm sick of people not knowing what they are actually insulting.
User avatar #202 to #193 - useroftheLOLZ (04/21/2013) [-]
My apologies my good sir, for It was never my intention to offend thee, I merely made a joke at the expense at the fact that Apple products tend to be, according to my experience, of the lowest denominator in terms of production costs, compatibility, costumer service, originality in terms of being "Next generation" in their aesthetic appearance, hard ware, and software; as well as their upgrade-ability, durability, and while I could go on, there is a character count, and I doubt you want me to drag this on.

You see, I use a PC and am a member of the console-sexual orientation, so I can not understand why someone would want to procure a product from a company that has time and again, proved it's self to be in the best interests of it's investors, instead of the consumer. Nor can I grasp the concept of a corporation that is a duality in the sense that while they are against the spread of free information and media, tend to be hypocritical in their beliefs as they themselves have perpetrated the act, and in their business venture, ensure that the artists who produce the artworks, under their label, are far indebted into their services, while they themselves procure vast amounts of wealth.

And while I do love the idea of using a media system and an operating system that is both unintuitive, and possesses a learning curve that is only meant for the most adept of individuals, I prefer the likes of "Media Center."

So, in order to avoid the confusion that has been brought up, please respond to the correct question as when you said, "No the last part :|", it leads me to question what you are implying.

Now, that ordeal has been taken care of, do you wish to procure sexual intercourse?

User avatar #209 to #205 - useroftheLOLZ (04/21/2013) [-]
I often wonder this myself, my gentlemen.

Now what I have said is not out of stereotypes, merely experience and the frustrations I have experienced using their products. whether it is with their computing devices, or their media devices, nothing more.

I just said that its primary purpose isn't gaming so obviously if you are a hardcore gamer you should go for a Dell, HP, Alienware, Etc. BUT my main purpose is to say that Macs aren't pieces of **** especially if you're in college and you mainly use it for work. but if you want to play games on a Mac you can because assuming you get a good one it will work when it comes to games because they aren't incompetent when it comes to gaming.
User avatar #281 to #276 - hydraetis (04/21/2013) [-]
Actually any notebook works for university.

If you recommend an HP for anything, you don't know what you're saying. Then recommending a Dell, then Alienware for gaming when Alienware is owned by Dell? lolwut.

And yea sure Macs can work for gaming. It'll just cost probably $500 more to buy a Mac than another computer of equal power.

Someone doesn't know as much about computers as they think they do.
User avatar #285 to #281 - huskycreeper (04/21/2013) [-]
You obviously haven't read my other comments. A Mac is great for college if you have other apple products because of the compatibility and of how functional it is.

Actually no.

Those units are separate RTC chips built into the motherboard. When the power is turned off, the RTC switches off it's access to the external world (beyond receiving power again), and uses it's own closed circuit within the chip to continue the timing. The seal used in these chips is almost always completely airtight.

However, most good motherboards won't completely break even if the RTC chip is broken. But you can bet it'll have some bugs when it comes to timing related tasks.

Mac vs. Windows may come to a screeching halt since Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with Windows 8 and are now looking down the barrel of the same loaded gun with a finger on the trigger.
And the "Windows Blue" ain't gonna fix the mess at all.
So I believe it will be Mac vs. Linux as Microsoft seems to have a hard-on for touch-based operating platforms and people migrate to Linux (what I'll be doing when Windows 7 support ends).
User avatar #169 to #144 - umaya (04/20/2013) [-]
They are all terrible, but have some things which make them better, the problems with windows 8 have mostly been around since xp, mac is made by apple so the normal arguments are there, and linux isn't that good for games, and if someone made a really user friendly ubuntu without needing that damn terminal that could play games like windows, everyone would use it.
I want microsoft to go completely bust and sell windows to someone else, like sony who will make a company merged with several others like toshiba (and some other japanese technology companies with high reputation) and make a new os, based off windows, but completely changed so it doesn't have all the ****** problems, but keeping all the good stuff.

A lot of it is people jumping on the bandwagon, they hate anything Apple because the internet tells them to.

I use a MacBook for uni and general browsing etc and honestly I prefer it to any windows based laptop I've used. The multi-gesture trackpad is really useful, the screen is better than any windows running laptops (I honestly can't believe laptops are still manufactured with 1366x768 displays) and the battery life is pretty good.

I use a Custom built PC running windows as my main PC, play a lot of games which just isn't good on a laptop.

Macs also have very high resell value, I could put this up on ebay for as much as I paid for it (I got £500 off a refurbished machine).

If you don't like Apple that's fine but being on the hate wagon is simply embarrassing, come on people you're better than that. Apple haters are worse than the sub-human Xbox vs PS3 retards.

(also inb4 "hurr you could have brought a windows laptop for less money", I wanted to try something new, and have lots of money.)

Because they sell you the exact same product as any other computer brand for twice as much, and convincing their fanbase that they are actually worth it.
They slap an apple logo on it and a unix OS and you pay an extra 500+ dollars for it.
User avatar #315 to #265 - isomeras (04/21/2013) [-]
Because it's supply and demand, essentially. People are incredibly easy to win over with a shiny thing. But they don't do this without backing.

Their products are, in fact, nothing like, say, windows devices. Take the Mac vs PC debate for a moment, if you will.

A PC is well-specced for gaming. Their processors can handle more complex functions. However, due to the power usage in their processor that means they can't spec quite as well in the department of actually creating things like games. Sure, they can do it, but just not as well.

A Mac is where you go if you're a developer - they were specced for developers for that reason. As you'd figure, developers would have the money to fork out for this particular brand because they know it's better than a PC for what they want to do.

tl;dr, a computer is built for what an average, everyday person wants, and a mac is specced for a whole different community. You won't find many applyfags here.

(As a media student, I worship both)
