as the son of a pilot i can say that everything is automated nowadays. to the point where you barely even need a pilot.

planes basically fly themselves nowadays

yup pilots only control the landing and take-off. so if you want to give the pilot a good complement talk about the landing, if they have a good landing, tell them because that is the hardest part
User avatar #43 - beanmaniac (03/30/2013) [-]
well for most of the flight you dont really need a pilot just for the take off and the landing.

So what you're saying is, the guys that work at Boeing should get an award of some kind?

Let's say we have 100 pilots, 44% of that is obviously 44, and this is 33% of 44%, so that's 14.52 (round it to 15) so about 15 out of 100 instances would that occur.. even if you did fly often, that's not completely terrible odds

Ass because of reading math

I can tell you, as a pilot, this a awesome

Considering how easy it is for humans to make a mistake and how much the computers manage the plane. I would actually prefer a computer flying the plane than a human pilot.
User avatar #11 - eatinaintcheatin (03/30/2013) [-]
That's why most pilots are on speed..

The Stewardesses do way more ******* work than the pilots do, yet they get paid less...

Just like Nurses to Doctors....
User avatar #65 to #53 - lolfire (03/30/2013) [-]
That's because Pilots and Doctors do the important **** .
The assistants do the grinding.

In a way, yes your right. As a pilot we have to go through school and spend over 200,000 to just be able to fly a plane. After that airlines wont hire us because we need to get 1500 hours flying and whatever the airline were looking at wants, yet out of pilot school you only receive about 300 to 500 hours.
User avatar #105 to #53 - legodude (03/31/2013) [-]
Pilots work is far harder you clearly have no knowledge about aviation.

because the pilots have the qualification, so do doctors

it doesn't take 6 years at university (and usually) 4 years Air-Force to become a stewardess
