Yes.. the first half is completely real. But at the end it skips to the absence of the octopus completely. It can't actually turn completely invisible.

it's not turning invisible. the thing doesnt just change color, it can change its texture as well, so it's making itself appear to be a part of the formation

why havent we harvested these for the technology?

Because we don't have the technology to harvest them for technology... though we're almost there. Soon as we can get small enough cameras at a cheap enough price.

All we need is minute cameras to record what's happening behind us and transfer that image to a sheath of lcd screens on the front. Sadly we're still working on making that a possibility. Though Moors law should come into effect and I'd say in the next decade or two we'll have civilian models.

I call ******** on this because in MGS1 he could go completely invisible at will without any side-effects... also my radar didn't run on batteries.

After you got the stealth camo, which is also available in mgs4. Batteries in the solid eye were a downgrade from mgs1 but an interesting gameplay element nevertheless.

I mean ******** in that it's a decade after 1 and all you have is blending in instead of legit cloaking. and I will say though that the solid eye's settings were pretty legit against crying wolf, and the batteries recharged quickly enough.

I feel that the batteries were an integral part of the game design, as it prevents the player from abusing the NV sights. In a sense, being able to spam that would probably make the game literally a cakewalk.

i feel with ya, I'm just saying they usually explain reasoning behind everything (snake, your radar is very easily jammed I'm afraid, get caught and they'll stop it MGS1) but they don't try to explain why tech seems to downgrade for snake.
