the real problem is not N.Korea itself.....but all its big friends....like China and Russia

take those two out of the equation and storming N.Korea would not be such a big deal

China and Russia will only help if we attack first. They're only allied for defence not offence. If they start **** first, they wont help them.

In 10 million years some sort of intelligent life of some sort will find the artifacts of 8 billion humans and see that they all went extinct due to some sort of nuclear war that went on the that the World had gotten to a point where they hated each other so much that they killed each other. How in the hell did they **** up that bad?
User avatar #325 - johnnyiscool (03/09/2013) [-]

I'm calling it now, we are going to have to wipe them out, we are not going to want to do it but they are going to fire the nuke at us, we will shoot it down, and once you fire a nuke with intent to kill millions you can't just let that go. We will have to come in, spend a few months with a land invasion, if they don't crack bomb them some, until we can overthrow there goverment, then all all you know it all douchbag europeans (not all europeans just the douchbags) will hold it over our heads for god knows how long despite them deserving it and the place being a better place after its done

Diplomatically is there any way to talk North Korea out of possible conflict? I know our version of Democracy is broken and exploitable but if we could negotiate what would North Korea want from us?
User avatar #305 to #299 - goodguygary (03/09/2013) [-]
north korea would want US. seriosly, more land and access to **** tons of nukes.

I do not fear nuclear war...I will not fear nuclear war as nobody is stupid enough to start it. I will only fear it when the chance of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) is diminished by warheads that can not be detected by radar and other means.

MAD is what prevented the Cold War from erupting into a nuclear war .

User avatar #54 to #42 - grocer (03/08/2013) [-]
>Nuke 'murica to dust.
>'murica submarines nuke you to dust.

I can't think of any conceivable way that MAD wouldn't exist. Only problem we could possibly have is if some rogue country decides to nuke and doesn't understand the MAD logic.
User avatar #96 to #42 - Onemanretardpack (03/09/2013) [-]
It's entirely possible that the cold war could have gone hot without the use of nukes. To say that nukes were the solution to the war and not one of the major issues is incredibly ignorant
User avatar #123 to #96 - thatguyontheright ONLINE (03/09/2013) [-]
Such moves may have triggered Nuclear War. Basically both sides were in all accounts scared of the other and were afraid to make the first move fearing nuclear retaliation.

But yes, it is possible for the Cold War to get hot without Nukes, but World War III would use devastating weapons, not necessarily nuclear devices, I am thinking it would be biological. If you are patient enough, biological warfare can be done with out harming your citizens and without the victims knowing who did it.

But I would think you have to be Madagascar to survive such a scenario.
User avatar #153 to #123 - Onemanretardpack (03/09/2013) [-]
The entire point of the Cold War was to outdo their nuclear and military technology. Nuclear attacks were one of the biggest fears of the war, not the way to keep the war from going hot. In fact, both sides almost went hot at multiple points because of strategic posturing of nuclear missiles. You can keep saying nukes kept the war from really happening, but the only thing that kept both sides alive were cool-headed leaders
User avatar #41 - dmagen (03/08/2013) [-]
you do know that in about 2-3 years they will be able to target anywhere in west america with a nuke right?
even if they will get obliterated later, they will still kill a lot of people (I'm not from the US btw)
#62 to #41 - anon (03/08/2013) [-]
And you do realize the US has a very powerful anti-missile defense system right? The US is capable of seeing a missile fired as soon as it leaves the ground.
#82 to #41 - Azz (03/08/2013) [-]
I'm sorry, but given NK's track record, I'm highly doubtful...
User avatar #97 to #41 - Onemanretardpack (03/09/2013) [-]
How that would go down:
>NK launches their nukes
>Nukes blow up 200 feet after liftoff
>Entire major cities are blown off the map
>USA is blamed for the whole thing, saying that they instigated the missile launch somehow
User avatar #114 to #97 - andriod (03/09/2013) [-]
Or we sabotage it and get yelled at for overstepping our authority.
User avatar #156 to #114 - Onemanretardpack (03/09/2013) [-]
We don't have to sabotage **** , did you see their last military parade? They towed their nukes with goddamn tractors. Not to mention their nukes are the most inefective pieces of **** every created. They only use like 3% of their fissionable materials on detonation
User avatar #548 to #156 - dmagen (03/09/2013) [-]
listen I don;t want to make you afraid or anything like it, but you have to realize that no matter how stupid they are they still will have the capability to do it in 2 years. sure there will be tons of ways to prevent it, but still you can't take it lightly when a country who has nukes says they want to lunch one on you.
my country is also in a similar (but meanwhile less worse) situation (I'm from Israel, it that doesn't explain it I will be happy to).
