Alienware? People still buy them? I thought they were more a less the mac of the PC world?
User avatar #357 to #341 - joshlol (02/13/2013) [-]
MacBooks are sophisticated. Alienware laptops are for manchilderen that think LED's are cool, and yes I know you faggots will jump at the chance to redthumb anyone that isn't a tard on the Apple hate wagon.
User avatar #356 to #341 - thepalmtoptiger (02/13/2013) [-]
Yes, people still buy it. You might as well buy an Asus with equal power and burn the extra $500, because that's basically what you're doing with an alienware. OP got the expensive line too, and a laptop to boot. I got a gaming laptop (using it right now) and I regret it. It is severely less mobile than I was hoping for, I didn't realize how big a 17" screen is.

I paid $1000 for a prefab Asus laptop with an i7 and GTX 460 about 3 years ago. Microsoft also had a student promotion where you get an Xbox 360 thrown in if you spend more than $700 on select brands, so I got that and sold it for $200.

If I could go back, I'd spend the money getting parts for a desktop, it would be cheaper, I had the time to build it, and I don't ever move my laptop (like I planned to do) because it is super heavy and bulky anyway.
#350 to #341 - anonymous (02/13/2013) [-]
You mean computers for adults who don't have the time anymore to spend their whole day on fiddling with their computer, people who don't have the time anymore to build their own, people who don't want to have some ugly eyesore sitting on the table, people who want a machine that works out of the box, has useful software preinstalled and doesn't crash (ever), people who don't want to slow down their system with antivirus crap, people who earn enough money to afford something of premium quality?

Actually, no, that is not Alienware.
#411 to #350 - anonymous (02/13/2013) [-]
Crickey! A real life mac user in his natural enviorment! The OP herd. Look! He's doing his mating ritual! He's utterring dibased reasons why mac is better then everything, using unsupported facts he read of a mac websites own review wall. The place where he bought it. When he became One of the herd.

Lets see if we can piss it off, by asking him what the numbers price/ performance/ software wise are, and wether they add up!

there is no D in refrigerator. op really loves the D that much.
User avatar #343 to #340 - isomeras (02/13/2013) [-]
There is - why do you think it's shortened to fridge, which also has a D?
User avatar #362 to #343 - amsel (02/13/2013) [-]
"Fridge" comes from the brand name "Fridgidaire." Nobody has ever spelled refrigerator with a d; not even the English. The name "refrigerator" without a d dates back further than American English (to the early 1600s).

Prove me wrong and I'll be happy to admit it.
User avatar #399 to #362 - isomeras (02/13/2013) [-]
Well, my English teacher is a retard. Sorry about that!
User avatar #358 to #343 - thepalmtoptiger (02/13/2013) [-]
There is no D in refrigerator. Pull out an Oxford right now.
#345 to #343 - Vincenzo ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
I could come up with a well formed argument, or I could just link to a dictionary.

There's your problem. You're an amerifag.
User avatar #353 to #346 - Twistolime (02/13/2013) [-]
and while doctors are saving lives, politicians making decisions, and people making a difference, there sat two people arguing over the proper spelling of refrigerator.
#348 to #346 - Vincenzo ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Actually, if you check my profile it clearly says I'm canadian, I just accept that the vast majority of people online are American, so it's easier to just type like one of them to avoid most of the "lulz, y u puting a u in color?"
User avatar #359 to #348 - thepalmtoptiger (02/13/2013) [-]
I am American and I tend to put a U in colour, armour, and other such words; It looks much prettier. Then when English professors point out that I spelled it wrong, I point to dictionaries that state it can be spelled either way.
User avatar #352 to #348 - isomeras (02/13/2013) [-]
I have a cure for that, actually. It's called not giving a **** . Seriously, use that and just don't ever reply to people who get on at you for that and it works like magic.
#354 to #352 - Vincenzo ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
You claim to not give a **** and you went out of your way to correct them, despite the fact that you knew that the vast majority of people on the internet are American and spell it without a D. Your argument makes complete logical sense good sir and I commend you for your ability to defend your decisions.

#351 to #347 - EdwardNigma ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Thats what I say. But no,it's like a ******* criminal offence to own an alienware. People say they are like macs for being over expensive.

Well, it ******* works, does it's advertised purpose quite effectively and can be easily fixed, unlike a mac. Simply put, the only argument people have that I've seen is, it's expensive. I didn't build one because the last time I built a computer, it wasn't very good at all. When this one reaches the end of it's life, I might get a custom computer because some people on here will be able to give me more advice on the matter, but for now, I ******* love this thing.
User avatar #364 to #351 - zraven (02/13/2013) [-]
It's not that they are bad, it's that they used to be better, and it seems like they have gotten more expensive, yet a lil worse. It's still a fine computer. You just probably coulda gotten better for your money is all.
User avatar #369 to #364 - EdwardNigma ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Probably, but, oh well. Too late now.

I like it, I expect to use it until it reaches the point of my previous computer. That is, when it blue screens constantly, EVERY game lags to **** and it takes forever to load the smallest thing and then one day completely dies. That'll take a while though.
User avatar #372 to #369 - zraven (02/13/2013) [-]
Oh, with proper maintenance, that will take a while. Like I said, still a damned decent computer.
User avatar #374 to #372 - EdwardNigma ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Well, this opinion of mine turned out well. Usually when i say I have one I get verbally abused.

This is turning out to be a good day.

I don't understand why people hate on everything alienware. The desktops are a rip off but the laptops are great.
User avatar #342 to #334 - ruebezahl (02/13/2013) [-]
People always hate on other people's equipment. They always feel they know what other people should have bought, because they think others are idiots by default and they can't understand that others might have other needs or a different approach to the subject. I think Asperger might be a factor here.

The most retarded point is reached when people keep going on about how building your own PC would have been so much cheaper. You know, I could probably build my own car if I wanted to, and it would cost 10% of what people usually pay for a new car, but I simply don't have the time to do it. And I don't complain to people who buy a new car how stupid they were not to build their own. It's like telling someone "Hey, why did you pay the kid next door to mow your lawn? It would have been cheaper to do it yourself, and you would have done a better job! Haha. You are stupid!"

TL;DR: People who hate on other people's computers REALLY need to get a life.
