They should leave Darth Vader alone for the upcoming film. It should be new and fresh, I think that'll please fans the most, because it wouldn't ruin their image of the original trilogy like the prequels did (I am one of the few who actually didn't have a problem with the prequels, but I can understand why people don't like them).

They should keep a (great) distance from the original trilogy and prequels, but they should still keep it recognizable. Difficult to do, but it will be fantastic if they succeed. I believe they can put something good on the big screen.

I always thought it'd be interesting to see either 1 of these stories:
A- A story about either Qui-Gon's knighthood or Mace Windu's knighthood.
B- Going back the The Old Republic and showing the rise of Darth Malak and Darth Raven more indepth than the games did. Like, show casing their padawan phases that ways you could add characters such as Kreia and Darth Nihilius
C- The Darth Bane story line. It'd be interesting to have a movie about a Sith Lord and not a Jedi.
D- A new trilogy on the original cast's children. That would probably, in my opinion, be the best thing to do. You get to go back to the familiar faces people enjoyed but you can introduce new characters and villains.

I would like option D, but I think it would be very difficult. There are a lot of books written about the adventures of the Solo and Skywalker family, and neither of the main characters from episode 4,5 and 6 die in those books (Except Chewbacca, he dies, but in a cool way). So the films would have to feature Luke, Han and Leia, and I don't think there fit for a new Star Wars movie to reprise their roles.

So plan D would probably be more disastrous than Jar Jar (Yes, I know).

Plan A could work, but I'm not sure it would be interesting for the big crowd. But i could be wrong.

Plan C, same as plan A.

Plan B, would LOVE to see Revan, but sould be difficult as they're basically turning an RPG into a film. They'd have to pick the most canon storyline and side missions to tell a good story about Revan's redemption. His early years with the Jedi and the mandalorian wars should be fine though. His life after that would also be difficult, because there's already a book about it. But it could work.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens. May the force be with us all.

I like B because I really enjoyed the games and they really intrigued me. The stories would be as followed VII would be about revan and Malak going against council orders about engaging in the war and there fall to the dark side, VIII would be of Revans return to the light side and IX would be about what happens to are an after the the game was finished

While it does look pretty badass, "just evolves" seems a ****** line. I don't know what I'd use. But it wouldn't be that.

Also, this surely wouldn't be canon.

Couldn't it all be about Han and Leia's kids, Jacen and Jaden or whatever?

Of course, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill all being really old makes that difficult.

That's what I thought. But a guy below says that George Lucas apparently disregarded the stories written after Episode VI. I guess it's so Disney has a free reign storywise if the end up making the movie.

Well, maybe it'll be something along those lines.
Hopefully they don't go Pre-1 2 3, into the mandalorian wars.

I really don't get why people are already hating on the new star wars. It is not even out yet.. It won't be any good if you don't give it a chance.

reason why I said possibly, I will give it a chance I was stating that if it was like episodes 1,2 and 3 it would not be as good of a movie. I hope it is a good movie I am just hoping they don't **** it up again

I'm not sure if it's "canon", but I know there was a book series written about after the 6th movie, where Han & Leia's twins became Jedi and Luke became a Sith lord.

So I kinda think that's where they might be going with it but I dunno...

Oh I know about that. Luke dabbling in the dark side and the Emperor using cloned bodies to not die. And one of Han and Leia's kids becomes a Sith Lord I think.

I just thought Episode VI was the end of Anakin/Vader as far as the universe is concerned. So I fail to see the relevance Vaders helmet has.

I think the hand is meant to be reaching out for the helmet, or pulling it with the force. It's in what looks like ash, and Vader was burned.

Possibly luke, following in his fathers footsteps?

But still, Lucas put up a block over the period of time after the end of episode VI, so there havent been any books set in that 30-40 year gap (everything is after that). This was mainly so he'd be able to make whatever movies he wanted, and they'd still be canon :P

I can't believe you are dissing the Mighty Ducks.
also,
the Pirates films were awesome, except the last one.
Avengers and all other recent Marvel movies, were fantastic.
Tron is brilliant. Tron Legacy was ok as well.
The Narnai films were well done
The Santa Clause
National Treasure
Cool Runnings
Muppet Chrismas Carol
All Toy Story films, Monsters Inc, Up, Wall-E, Nemo, The Incredibles etc etc etc....

I cant understand how someone can look at that list and suggest that anything Disney Produces goes to ****.
Did you watch your parents get ritualistically killed by Donald Duck or something?

I've never been a huge fan of Sci-fi or cinema in general so the decision won't be regretted. I've always been a fantasy kid and although the use of "the force" does appeal to me in that aspect, Star Wars was never my strong suit.
I'll probably end up seeing it eventually. Years from now, over at someone's house and we're bored out of our minds with nothing better to do.
