maybe that section of the bible meant to literally lie next to and had nothing to do with sex? wouldn't that be funny.

Except that makes absolutely no ******* sense, and the bible also mentions how gays won't go to heaven. Yeah, twist this **** all you want, friend.

I was joking..... like wouldn't it be funny if the whole christian anti gay thing was due to a translation error when they translated the bible from hebrew, to ancient greek to latin then to english. some people have no sense of humour

niether, slaves back then werent as slaves are today. it was more like master and servant, those born wealthy, and those who had to work for money. the slavery tht came to be know by us today is much more racist and cruel.

anon won't hear this but I'll write it for the rest of you, that is what slavery was like for people from Israel but it said to take them from other countries and they would have been treated badly

It's not like the bible was written only about not allowing gays. There was maybe, 1 or 2 lines on it. They also said don't get tattoos, but people do that without thought.

Aa for slavery, it was also a book written thousands of years ago, so yea, its a bit behind the times.

Would just like to mention: Just because it's in the Bible doesn't mean the Bible is condoning it. The point of the Bible is to reveal human nature: The good, the bad, and the ugly. It shows the bad parts of humanity and the good and it also shows what life was like AT THAT TIME. Just because it's talking about slavery like the above, does not mean that's God's law or that it's what God wants. RESEARCH THE CONTEXT of the passage. Was it a law/rule of the certain area of the world? Was it a general law/rule? WHO said it?

As you may or may not know. There are believes of God in the Bible and there are NON-believers as well. There are rulers and rebels and hookers and eunuchs and so on.

Also: Old testament is old. Move on.

Why are we still argueing about these things?
Some people believe in the Bible, others don't. Get fricking over it. Co-existence is a overlooked option.
Oh wait, this is the internet, where people do not know what "reasoning" is.

There actually was slavery in the bible. Homosexuality isn't on the other hand.

Now, i'm fairly certain that the exodus phrase was regarding how the Egyptians treated the Jewish slaves. Egypt is what you may refer to as an "antagonist" in exodus

The first slave owner was actually a pope and the concept really didn't fly off till a hundred years later. then slaves became super common
User avatar #86 to #84 - heretofuckshitup (02/04/2013) [-]
also it was a gift, he didn't ask for a slave and i'm sure this slave was treated somewhat better. more like an indentured servant than a slave i believe
#87 to #86 - anon (02/04/2013) [-]
Pretty sure people had slaves long before Christianity came about.

gay wannabe cowboy faggots. Everytime I wear my cowboy hat it's always "lolol u luk lyk ur from broekbak mntn lolololol."

I'd rather have slavery, it was better than this reverse racist society we live in today by a long shot.
