I have Uncharted 3 because it was on sale when I bought it. Do I need to play the first two to understand the story? I have the same situation with Assassin's Creed 3.

Its a good idea too. IMO Uncharted 2 was the best Uncharted.

story wise: no (the only thing that gets passed on in the games is the character development). However, I highly recommend at least playing the first one first because it'll allow you to appreciate the improvements they made in the sequels.

Uncharted is kinda divided between the different games, the adventure is different and so far has been concluded, however I'd recommend playing the first two first, because they are good games, and they teach you about the characters.

as for assassins creed then yes, you need the other games, it is one big overarching story, however brohood and revelations are more focused just on Ezio and wrapping up his story, along with Altairs.

and by concluded I mean, in every game he completes that one specific adventure...

Thank you, I will look into acquiring/borrowing the others games before playing the newest ones.

It looks like Indy has a mustache, and a mild case of palsy.

And while they're arguing, this scrawny little git is plundering the ruins.

Jason Brody from_ Far Cry 3_, if anyone is wondering.

on a side note i hate how once the games over its over. sure i can explore the island and get all the achievements but the only way i can kill people is rakyaat challanges

I don't think I've seem this argument before?
Is it common between fans of these two franchises?

I don't think there is an argument. They're essentially the same, aside from the tits.

I just figured OPs goal was to point out Indiana Jones was doing what they were doing beforehand, because of people arguing over who was better.
Kind of how like PC users bring up PC between Xbox and Playstation.

Yeah, like I said, I don't think there is any rivalry between fans of one or the other, at least certainly not to the degree of xbox/playstation or pc/mac fanboys.

The comparison wasn't really of the degree, just rather the similar situation of there being too arguing groups, and a third coming and saying "Well what about this?"

Like what Metallicock said, Uncharted is like playing a movie. I played the first two but never played the third for exactly that reason. They, to me, felt like interactive popcorn action flicks, so they were kind of boring story-wise, but I must admit that the games' graphics and settings look absolutely stunning.
