No. I'm training to become a mortician. You know how many people get themselves killed in fights over stupid **** like this? Quite a lot here around the Saint Louis area.

Honestly, whoever feels the need to lay their hands on someone else for something so immature as a drink to the face is nothing more than a little bitch. Just walk it off like an adult. If punches had been thrown and it was bad enough, I'd say yeah, knock that bitch out. But he took it too far. I would have said the same if it were two guys, two girls, or two bear wearing a bow tie on a unicycle knocking the **** out of eachother.

I think you're a better human being than most, if not smarter, too. It can be the best move available to avoid responding with violence and teaching your aggressor a lesson. If you aggressor continues his behavior with others, someone will hand his ass to him, whether that be a bouncer or police man, it's still more gratifying than being involved in a petty fight against some Guido in a ******* pale blue polo.

the problem is that in america the police are usually fat wanna tough guys who think they are untouchable. in many cases the city they work in will try to protect them when they do something wrong. Just a couple cities away from me a mentally ill homeless man was beat to death by police, and even one of my friends thought the police had the right to. and the city they worked in protected them, out of the six men who did it, 2 got fired and i think one git some jail time.

It normally depends on how long they have been cops. I normal cop makes about 30,000 a year (In texas) bout I know a guy who has been a cop for the last 20 years and makes about 60000 a year.

I'm considering becoming one JUST because they have easily the best average pay in the city LOL i think the lowest pay after 6 years was like... 75k? thats just aslong as you aren't demoted or **** up alot. there was a big story in the paper how they take up like all the citys budget :p
the city had a lot of criminal issues in the 90s tho so i guess they decided to try and fix things :p

fun fact, like 4 days ago they found just a torso in a dumpster
#33 to #30 - killyojoy (02/02/2013) [-]

In a small city of about 3000-6000 people there may only be 5-10 cops on duty even less and most of the time they are very busy so they have to put things in order of importance.

So the police are supposed to drop everything they're doing just to cater to your whims? **** you, you're not more important than anyone else. So sorry the police cant be everywhere at once. I hope, i sincerely hope you get robbed and the police just tell you to shove it up your ass.

They can't be everywhere at once. You know that. But they're the ones who help you when some guy robs you, they're the ones who find the killer, they're the ones who keep you safe at night. Imagine your city with no fear of law enforcement. You'd be dead within hours..
User avatar #55 to #50 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]

Well i can only hope someone will grant your wish...
#38 to #36 - killyojoy (02/02/2013) [-]
I'm sorry the cops can't move at light speed to save you. It sounds like your real problem is simply physics.
User avatar #42 to #38 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
Exactly. Police is nice to keep society running, but not infallible when it comes to the individuals defense against violent attack.
And I'm not willing to take that chance, that's all about that.

The other part is that throughout the world and throughout history, police forces have been used/abused to enforce tyranny and oppression as well as commit collective theft and even genocide.
That is a serious issue about an armed force under the rule of government that must not be ignored as well.
User avatar #313 to #42 - saddestofbreads (02/02/2013) [-]
Yeah man, policemen are all tyrants! They just want to shoot people all day long, commit genocide on a regular basis and destroy all who have opinions that aren't the governments.

But seriously, you are a ******* retard. The police are there to protect your fat, dumb ass. I have family members in the police force, wanna know how many times any of them have killed someone? Zero. Never have they fired a shot at a living person, because they try to keep people safe and even killing a criminal is frowned upon unless the officers life is threatened.

You sir, are a moron.
User avatar #390 to #313 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
"The police we have today are nothing like the Gestapo. The gestapo we specially trained to hunt for jews and instill fear into the public. Police officers are trained to protect citizens and prevent crimes. How can you honestly compare the two?"

They did what they were told by the government, just as any modern police does.
Whether they are used to provide safety and order or enforce oppression and terror can be changed within a few short years back and forth; the mechanisms to do both are already in place.

That's precisely why I distrust institutions with sanctioned violence, be it police or army or government itself; they're uncontrollable to us and we live at their mercy, whether it appears as such or not.
And don't tell me about elections and the people's voice. That's nonsense.
User avatar #391 to #390 - saddestofbreads (02/02/2013) [-]
If the government wanted to instill fear into it's people it certainly wouldn't use the police in this day and age. It would use propaganda, the media and the stock market to make people panic. The police force is simple too small to have us 'living at their mercy'. in fact, they are just too small full stop, if anything we need more police to quell the increase in crimes. But I don't see the police force turning into what you claim them to be anytime soon, there isn't a reason too or anything to be gained by doing it.
User avatar #392 to #391 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
They would use the police force just as well. When trying to oppress an entire nation, the gov needs everything it can get its hands on.
Blowing it up into a respectable standing army or installing actual paramilitary as police force (see the Russian OMON) is nothing new, either.

There may not be reason or danger now, though I don't wholly agree with that, but I think it's a mistake to turn a blind eye to this possibility even if there wasn't.
User avatar #393 to #392 - saddestofbreads (02/02/2013) [-]
As you said, if they wanted to oppress an entire nation they would use the military, the police simply don't have the numbers to do it. They are here to protect you and are for the most part friendly people.
User avatar #385 to #313 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
"As has already been said, there are a few officers who over react to some situations, but those people are very few in number, you only know about them because of how much the media blows them up. If the media did this for every officer you would never even see police brutality because the number would be so low. I can't really remember the last time police committed genocide, would you care to remind me?"

Na. You never read anything about that in the media. It's the stuff you have to search and ask for on the internet, then it shows up. To the regular citizen just watching news on TV, it's invisible.

As for police committing genocide, look at any dictatorial regime there ever was.
None of those can work without police enforcing them, and all end in massive bloodshed.
User avatar #387 to #385 - saddestofbreads (02/02/2013) [-]
Are you comparing the police to the Gestapo?
User avatar #388 to #387 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
Yes, of course.
And seeing as Gestapo is short for "Geheime Staatspolizei" (Secret State-police), it shouldn't come as a surprise either.

User avatar #370 to #365 - techketzer (02/02/2013) [-]
" they have committed genocide and that they are the governments hounds almost. "
Yes, they have. And yes, they are.
The institutions as such, not so much the individual officers.

It's called police brutality and abuse of power. And none of that **** from whiny pubescent faggots overstepping their bounds, but bloodcurdling acts of barbarity along the lines of the one video I already posted. Thousands of it floating out there in the internet.
Records that show that dressing a sadist into blue uniforms still doesn't change him being a sadist.

Why didn't I post all of these up front? Because that's not my point here.
