I feel like everyone is incapable of realizing that when you pay an absurd amount of money for something. YOU CANNOT DO WITH IT WHAT YOU PLEASE.

Don't get me wrong I would love that, but nothing allows it. Not a PC, not an Apple, not a PS3, not a car. Everything's limited, some more than others. They're called license agreements.

And otherwise I really don't give a **** about this post.

Warranties. Not only do you need special tools to get in, but if you do get in, you will find smoke sensors in their laptops. These sensors will go out if you use your computer while smoking a cigarette inside. Once. The tiniest bit of smoke will trip the sensor, and it doesn't matter what kind of smoke. This then voids your warranty and they will refuse to service it without you paying even more than they already expect. When my friends mom had the screen on hers shatter, we took it in. They said it would cost 300 bucks to replace the screen. Just to REPLACE A ******* SCREEN, with a full cover warranty and insurance that covered "a part of the cost for accidental damage". Then they opened it, showed us the smoke sensors, and said that it would now cost 700 to replace because she had voided the warranty. Needless to say I made her say go **** yourself to them and took her to best buy where I got her a new computer for 400 instead.

TL;DR don't smoke around a mac if you want to keep your warranty.

Are you ******* kidding me? There are water detectors, yeah, but saying there are smoke detectors in a Mac is a load of ******** .

I don't get why people get their panties in a bunch because of this ? If you don't like Apple products, don't spend your money on them. Simple as that.

#548 to #439 - thatonecarlkid (02/06/2013) [-]
If we enlighten the idiots and show them that they do not need these products, then maybe one day Apple will actually treat its customers better....seeing as Jobs is out of the picture.

good point, but we have to fix the brainwashed retards who suck apple's dick economically by falling for their ******** above and buying every single new product that apple comes out with.
User avatar #502 to #490 - driverist (01/31/2013) [-]
Fix ? What is this, some kind of war ? Why can't we let people do what the **** they want with their money ? As long as they're not hurting anybody I don't see the problem here.

Until Apple takes over the world and bans everybody from competing with them, I don't see the problem here.

So much butthurt
User avatar #458 to #439 - mtandy (01/30/2013) [-]
Fair enough, but what annoys us is being told by people, who have no idea what they're talking about, that Apple products are somehow superior to competing products. Hence the post explaining why all the fanboys are not only wrong, but thick if trying to defend their purchase.

apple G4 notebook. (something like that) released 2002-03 distributed to teachers. my mother had to work with this until about last year. vs. my brothers windows XP sp3 released roughly 2003. the notebook i had difficulty running minesweeper and firefox on, the XP played league of legends successfully (granted low settings and 40 fps in teamfights) it could even run sc2 at about 12 fps before a 1g to a 4g ram upgrade, and a graphics upgrade. I would still be willing to use that desktop today if it had more then a single core processor and some more upgrades.

I don't like how Apple is trying to snuff competition with Samsung and other companies. It's not very "free market".

But aside from that, if I were an Apple investor, I'd be standing up and cheering. Apple's marketing department is probably the most effective in the world. Not only have they convinced people to buy ****** products at ridiculous prices, but they've also convinced those people to keep coming back--even to the point where people will line up outside their stores for hours to buy the latest iDevice. They've created a sort of "cult of personality" around their products, and their customer base is solid as a rock.

You've got to remember that Apple doesn't "force" anyone to buy their products--not even the accessories. They have to convince them. Purchasing a product is a conscious decision that has to be made by the customer, and the consumer can always say "no"--at least in a free market.

So as a business, Apple is one of the best in the world. But I'll be damned if I'm ever caught buying one of their products ever again--especially after that black hole of money I once had called an "iPod touch".

Honestly if you want it for video and audio editing on a PC, ASUS is your best bet. However Lenovo has some decent ones too. It's honestly the hipster PC, so it has the attraction of a macbook, but towards people who are actually tech savvy. Go look through the ThinkPad product line, that's generally where the praise goes. If you want something really good though save up for ASUS, and never buy from dell, HP, or a few others that i cant think of right now. Oh and **** Acer, their **** breaks a lot.

No problem. I understand the money issues i have an interview at a fast food place Saturday because my business is slow ( I run high performance gaming computer building, and computer repair as my main job). The difference in this one will be the processor capability, its a new architecture, meaning more power. The last was a manufacturing upgrade the went from 32nm to 22nm architecture. Intel releases in a tick tock cadence meaning for 2 quarters they make a manufacturing upgrade, then the next two is a performance upgrade.

Solid state drives are no the way to go. Not yet. Five it atleast 3-5 years were still in the baby stages for solid states drives and there still ******* expensive for what you get.

Just get a high quality standard HDD and work with that unless you -need- a solid state for something in particular.

I actually agree with OP's opinion of Apple, I essentially think they are lying, money-grabbing bastards, but I also think that this is a horrendous example of a "structured argument". It's closer to slander.

Basically, my overall idea is that, if you're going to criticise a company, you have to try and at least appear like you aren't taking a side before you even begin. This post just shows the writer putting his own spin on Apple's ideas, just like he says they do.

ok lets put it this way, people who rip on apple are just as ignorant as the people who think macs are perfect. the lifespan of a macbook pro is just as long as any other mac and since they are built to such a high quality they hardly ever fail. i believe he is referring to 2 years until the next one is released.
secondly macs can get malware and are "immune" to other viruses WHEN the mac itself has not been compromised. and when i say compromised im saying that the computer itself must be opened up and altered physically and they must strip it of its software and load up custom software that can get a virus. this is done by people that are just trying to see what it takes to infect a mac with a virus.
im a Graphic designer and have been using macs for years. macs are built to a higher quality than other computers at twice the price. but just remember pretty much all computer company does ****** stuff to make more money. such as downgrading there tuff on purpose in order to release one later with the "missing features"

What kinda bs is this. Apple forces you to do this, apple forces you to do that. Oi, dont buy apple then! Free country, Basic rules of comptetition, buy a product you actually like instead of being the sheep you are and still buying apple producs despite all the points you just mention.
#390 - newtoast (01/30/2013) [-]
I've been using the same standard MacBook for 5 years now. I replaced the battery for the first time last week, and got it serviced for free (the clicking on the mouse broke). They literally took it behind the counter for 30 minutes while I got lunch, and when I came back it was like new. They had a part for a 5 year old computer on site which they replaced for free.

So much of this post is bias. It isn't apple's middle finger, it's the PC user's middle finger directed at apple for being something other than what they use.
User avatar #396 to #390 - lunacy (01/30/2013) [-]
Oh, well how much did you pay for that nice warranty over those 5 years?
User avatar #406 to #396 - fuzzum (01/30/2013) [-]
That would be my question. Apple doesn't service ANYTHING for free unless you pay there absurd premium for a warranty.

Not only that, but I know people that apple refuses to service for free even though they had warranty when the item broke. They played a ******* phone tag game till they gave up or the warranty expired, whichever came first.

Apple doesn't want to help you they want your money, any way they can get it.
User avatar #408 to #406 - lunacy (01/30/2013) [-]
Exactly. My iPod's hard drive is failing, but because I didn't pay their absurd premium, they won't fix it. So I'm gonna have buy a new HDD, open her up, and replace it myself.
User avatar #416 to #408 - fuzzum (01/30/2013) [-]
I don't think there the -worst- I think they play a very dirty game and love to **** people over. They at once point did make fantastic products that were the next generation. Now they stagnate.

Find out what people want, and release a ****** product without those features.

Then the next year, release a new product with all of last years features.
#404 to #396 - newtoast (01/30/2013) [-]
It was a complimentary 1 warranty. After that, if you say you want the top plate replaced because it's chipping, they see it as a manufacturing flaw and replace it for free(including the mouse).
