ox·y·to·cin
[ òksi tṓssin ]
A hormone that induces labor: a pituitary hormone that stimulates uterine contractions during childbirth and triggers lactation.
Right... I'm gonna call ******** on that one.
Now, assuming I was able to catch this one as a fraud, I'm going to assume a few others are.

when you do your research, make sure to check more than one source, hormones have more than one use:
"Oxytocin evokes feelings of contentment, reductions in anxiety, and feelings of calmness and security around the mate.[24] Many studies have already shown a correlation of oxytocin with human bonding, increases in trust, and decreases in fear. One study confirmed a positive correlation between oxytocin plasma levels and an anxiety scale measuring the adult romantic attachment.[25] This suggests oxytocin may be important for the inhibition of the brain regions associated with behavioral control, fear, and anxiety, thus allowing orgasm to occur. Oxytocin also functions to protect against stress. Meta-analyses conducted in 2003 demonstrated that oxytocin can alleviate mood and reduce stress with alarming efficiency.[26]"

That's not the REASON to WHY we sleep, that just involves the sleep process.

You need sleep because sleep is when the body repairs itself. When a person sleeps, everything slows down (heart rate, breathing, etc). If a person doesn't sleep, their brain, heart , and other major internal organs are working 24 hours a day and can't supply the body with enough energy to function. If you miss too much sleep it can lead to extreme fatigue, hallucinations, and eventually death.

Your body's organs work just as much when they are asleep as when they are awake on an average level. In fact, you're brain goes into overdrive multiple times during a sleep cycle during the REM phase.

I think the reason why the scientist says he doesn't know is probably because what part of sleep deprivation causes fatigue and hallucinations. You can digest a piece of food just as good deprived of sleep to a person who is not. How does sleeping change this? Your body regenerates tissue while its awake, sleep only acts as a catalyst. Your brain works almost just as much as it does when you are awake during various stages in the sleep cycle. How does sleep deprivation cause hallucinations?

You really do release Oxytoxin, but who the **** would let someone hug them if they don't already trust the person.

The skin can feel stuff, which sends impulses to the brains, which subconsciously sends impulses to glands which then secrete Oxytocin.

To be honest, the amount of Oxytocin produced by the person is probably minimal. It is mostly used during child birth and breast feeding. Some studies also suggest during sex. The purpose of Oxytocin is to give positive feedback to the person producing it; it makes the individual feel affection for the person (probably a baby) in question, leading to less abandoned young during caveman days.

My guess would be that the senses tell the brain that the hugging is an act of affection, the same way you feel good when you see someone smiling.

"to withhold a kidney from someone who would otherwise die means valuing one's own life at 4000 times that of a stranger"

What ******** logic!
Thats like saying "your body- your choice but hey, if you dont give your kidney to this guy right now then you are a massive selfish asshole and I hope you have many sleepless nights thinking about it"

Maybe they arent selfish, maybe theyre just scared of going under the knife, I would be.
Just because someone is in need doesnt mean theyre automatically entitled to a handout because donating a kidney means having to go through the pain of surgery plus possible future complications. If they want to go through with it, then more power to them but otherwise if someone tries to guilt trip someone else into giving up a part of their body, then they are the most person selfish of all.

SCIENTISTS KNOW EXACTLY WHY WE NEED SLEEP! 75 percent of our growth and development is done in our sleep!

it allows us to to regenerate and digest. with out sleep we wouldnt dream and dreams allow us to sort our memories into long term and short term memory banks!

***** you dumb!
