Spreadsheet online is not that hard, and it is boring.

I have played chess games more intense than any -10 blobwarfare in nullsec or any small scale pvp roaming.

It is only ever fun if you install a 3rd party software and actually talk with other people.

Ill stick with my guildwars2 for my mmo needs thank you.

its a game thats difficult to pick up, but once you do its like any arcade game; you play and try to keep alive as long as possible before your dysfunctional society of dwarves figure out a way to kill themselves.

Look for something called the Lazy Newb Pack. It improves the graphics beyond ascii, makes the game much easier to play. Definitely worth the effort.

Reminds me of how I was playing it yesterday and 5 dwarves died because of a piece of cloth. I think there was a Murphy law about this. If you're prepared for every possible way that things can go wrong, then a new way will pop up that you can't prevent.

Oh god those were epic memories.

Also as you can see by my Screenshot some pals of mine at CMT are rebuilding the single player with an Open Source Graphics overlay engine (CMT SPV3) and some friends and I are working on mods to increase hit box reaction eliminating lead and minor aim assist for advanced controller support to make it more like halo 3. Halo CE will make a return!

The hitbox modification on the other hand is a server related issue and we have been having problems applying it to our dedicated server, but we will figure it out eventually :).

Sure thing. You can find news about the Graphics mod here. http://www.halomods.com/ips/index.php?/forum/19-custom-map-team/

The full version is almost here, but If you want to check out the graphics mod I was playing in these screenshots first hand, you can find the CMT SPV3 Alpha Truth and Reconciliation.yelo map and the Open Sauce engine on hce.halomaps.org. Install the map to your Halo Custom edition folder replacing the original a50 single player map, run Open Sauce with Halo Custom Edition and on the main menu press your console ( ~ ) key and type this command map_name a50 and hit enter. One more thing, Xfire does not play well with open sauce.

Don't worry, the HUD is optional it is basically a Halo ODST style Night Vision mode. This is an example of the motion blur, ambient lighting and dynamic lighting effects that Open sauce (name for engine used to add graphical effects) allows us to overlay on the standard Halo CE engine.

I feel as though Starcraft should be depicted as way more difficult on the graph, or some of the other ones should be depicted way less difficult.

StarCraft is the kind of game that is very easy to learn, but it takes a lifetime to master.

I thought that at first too, but since this graph only views time spent playing vs required skill and there is no guarantee in starcraft that your skill will improve. Some people have over 5k games played and are still bronze, whereas in WoW as you level up the encounters (suposedly) become harder. So I think this might be rightish...

I've played Classic and TBC, that did increase difficulty as you progressed. I can't make a statement about the new expansions, but still there's bound to be some type of learning curve

Anyone here played teleglitch lately?

Good game. Short but sweet, and I found it refreshingly challenging at first.

Probably wouldn't have been challenging if you looked stuff up, but idk. It was really fun to just figure stuff out on my own instead.

Which reminds me: I think that while games have definitely gotten easier (in part to open it up to a broader audience), there are also plenty of ones just as hard, you just have to look. If anything there's even more than there used to be.
However, I think one of the biggest things making games easier these days is that you can look up such a massive amount of tutorials, guides, info on wikis, watch let's plays, etc, etc such that you pretty much can't lose. Back in the day, you either couldn't look up anything so it had to be word of mouth if anything, or even when you finally could look stuff up it was pretty much just cheats for messing around with, not really anything for if you wanted to play the game legit (like age of empires cheats and stuff).

It wasn't for quite a while that people could go to a wiki and look up more than half of all info on a game in an hour or so. And there certainly weren't any "let's plays" or things like that. You'd be lucky to occasionally be able to find a tutorial, and even then it probably wasn't a video.
