Rumor is they're making a sequel to Battle: LA and it might be set in Europe since the control towers were all over the world.

#98 to #93 - redbloodmurder (01/25/2013) [-]
North and South America are continents.America is located in North America.

People, people, a lot of countries still only recognize N & S America as a single continent, because according to a geologist a continent is a large landmass separated by an ocean. This is also the same reason why people still consider Europe and Asia Eurasia.
User avatar #156 to #119 - kerfufflemachtwo (01/25/2013) [-]
In that case, there would be four continents.

North/South America
Europe/Asia/Africa
Australia
Antarctica
User avatar #143 to #119 - meganinja ONLINE (01/25/2013) [-]
North America and South America are not connected.
User avatar #158 to #143 - kerfufflemachtwo (01/25/2013) [-]
Yes they are. Not by much, but they are connected.
User avatar #160 to #158 - meganinja ONLINE (01/25/2013) [-]
I mean looking at it from a geological point of view, the landmasses are connected underneath the Panama Canal, but it's impossible to get from one continent to the other by foot. Same reason why Africa isn't considered part of the Eurasian landmass, there's a canal seperating it from everything else.
User avatar #164 to #160 - kerfufflemachtwo (01/25/2013) [-]
Right, but the canal is man made. So, it still counts. And I would assume they would have some way to cross the canal by foot. Maybe a person can't drive over it, but they could still walk across.
User avatar #167 to #164 - meganinja ONLINE (01/25/2013) [-]
That depends on your definition of continent, which I think was given wrongly in comment 119. Since the North and South Americas are on different tectonic plates, and separated by a (man made) body of water, I think they're two different continents. Again, Africa has the Suez Canal separating it from Asia, and it is considered a different continent, not even in the same landmass as Europe and Asia.
User avatar #252 to #167 - Odobisean (01/25/2013) [-]
Even still he may be from Spain where they teach 6 continent combined model to where North and South America are combined
User avatar #251 to #167 - Odobisean (01/25/2013) [-]
If were going by tectonic plates then North America would contain some of Russia, India would be a continent, same with Arabia, part of Iceland would be part of North America and part of it would be part of Eurasia.

America is generally what people say when referring to the United States. If they had said North America, then I'd be inclined to agree with you, but they did not. You're half-right, though.
User avatar #81 to #76 - deezknuts (01/25/2013) [-]
america is generally the US, but technically it's not an actual country.

like when everyone talks about "America" we know they mean the US, but technically America isn't a country.and when we talk about americans, we know what we mean

After all these years, an alien finally noticed Europe. It could be a start of a new era of invasions, new possibilities and stuff.
But NO, "we are butthurt because he called it a country!"
