both very stupid questions. Same wireless charging technology phones have been using the past few years most likely. Heat free LED lights have been around even longer. Add a nice clear rubber around it and you don't have to worry about dropping them.

the balls are photo sensitive, they become "charged" by the light that passes through them from the led thats in the thingamajgger.

I have one and its cool changes colors and ****, but the balls do not glow to the color of the light and are not bright enough to go in the dark but still pretty cool.

They do, but the amount of heat they give off is negligible, because the light source is a couple blue LED's.

Yup, I image they are simply plastic balls with a chip inside with a couple of LEDs, a battery and an inductor. The station has a an electromagnet causing the inductor to charge the battery.
