The big ball is the multiple-spacial-dimensional plane our one dimensional time exists within, time is a 1D string which is coiled up so that it fits into the "ball", and every point within the ball can be represented with a single value which increases the further along the string you go.
Whereas on a 2D graph, you know, you need two points, (24, 97).
