You can be 16 and enlist for non-combat roles. No western nation allows 16 year olds into combat.

Why can you sell your body to the government at 16 but not drink until you're 21? O.o?

There seems to be abit of confusion about this for people in the UK. You can join the any armed forces at 16 but you cannot go to war until you are 18. My old politics teacher used to bitch about this, how you could kill people but not vote, she was a retard.

Because the government needs people to join the army and sometimes life isn't fair.

Most Australian retailers don't pay attention to the ratings on games when you buy them.
Also the age to join the army is 18.

I'm pretty sure you have to finish year 12 so that should rule out anything below 18 and I swear the ads on TV say you need to be over 18. Do you mean like an army chef or engineer because that might be different.

Pretty sure I've not finished year 12 and I'm in the Australian Army.

To do a uni degree with the army you need to obviously finish year 12 (just like any other uni in australia), or if you want to be an Officer you need to finish year 12. Other than that you can do whatever you want as long as your 16 and a half.
