#177 to #167 - joefakes (01/13/2013) [-]
Earl Grey is very heavily fragranced, it is not a plain black tea.
#188 to #167 - gisuar (01/13/2013) [-]
wikipedia told me earl grey is a so called "blend" black tea mixed with bergamot oil.
User avatar #189 to #188 - bokkos (01/13/2013) [-]
But it is a form or deviation of black tea? I don't ******* know, we're not going to argue over tea right?

Basically, sugar in tea is viewed as faux pas, however a small amount is acceptable. Going for three sugars makes you look like a 5 year old who would prefer a glass of Juice.

Generally tea should be brewed fairly strong with either a small amount of milk or lemon depending on the blend.

It might come from the idea that it can be taken as an insult. Similar to the belief that if you salt food before tasting it you're insulting your host.
