No, because for 1 "women are bitchy post', there's like 15 "You'll never get a girlfriend, stop discriminating women" comments.
You don't see console gamers, people under 15, minorities, people who use windows 8, people who like Apple, or people from countries in the middle east be nearly that bitchy about it.
The only people who complain when they're mocked are the USA people, and women, and sometimes Mac users.

I imagine that I won't get much sympathy for this argument.

But people have the right to wear whatever they want. You can tell a lot about a person by the things they wear, yes, but that's all based on assumption. The human body isn't something to be ashamed of, it's something to be celebrated. The sooner we open ourselves up to the human body and stop being so afraid of sex and sexuality, the better.

But that's not the point. The point is, a woman should be allowed to wear what she want without being hated for it. Whether she wants to show none or show all of it. Should we go back to the 1700s where showing an elbow was offensive and unheard of. I thought we had moved past this kind of prejudice.

If someone isn't comfortable with people walking around in revealing clothing clothing, or a lack of clothing they should be able to speak about it.

People could at least have the decency and respect, if not for themselves (Which is far too common) for the respect of others who aren't cool with it.

What qualifies as "decent?"
In some poor countries, the women walk around topless. Are they dressed indecently and are horrible people for it? Should we demand that all women cover up every inch of their bodies in thick layers?

Decent is what is generally excepted in the country you live in. It's not very hard to understand.
User avatar #133 to #132 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
Okay, so we should demand that the women in this country (where we're all civilized) cover every inch of their bodies?

I demand that women cover their earlobes. They are way too sexual. It's indecent to be anything but.

Well, you'd have to get more than 75% of the population to agree with you. If you do, then yeah, it's generally accepted and should be the norm.

Nah, you're right. How dare women have breasts that they show off with cleavage. How dare women be sexually active. How dare women wear clothes that show off their bodies. Women should be ashamed of their bodies and should hide them all the time.
User avatar #140 to #138 - awesomenessdefined (01/10/2013) [-]
If that's generally thought to be the norm, then yes. You're acting like women are the only people who have to deal with this. Every single group of people has something they aren't allowed to do, because it's generally not accepted.
User avatar #142 to #140 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]

All right then, let's not change any social norms because that's how society works and gender roles should never be questioned or changed.

gays should never be allowed to marry, all women are sluts for ever having bodies, and blacks should live in the slums.
#163 to #150 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
I'm a man. I would like to flail my penis about everywhere, and no one should dare complain, because it's my body and i can do what i want. See that? I can't do that. There is a line, not just for women.
User avatar #200 to #163 - newposterintown (01/10/2013) [-]
That's where it gets fuzzy. People can't walk around around naked,

But they damn well skirt the lines sometimes.
User avatar #168 to #163 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
Women don't walk around naked. Most people don't out of insecurity and sexual reasons, not wanting to be sexually harassed or violated.

That said, though, I'm not against nudity being allowed for both genders.
User avatar #159 to #150 - awesomenessdefined (01/10/2013) [-]

User avatar #162 to #159 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
"Every single group of people has something they aren't allowed to do, because it's generally not accepted."

So essentially, because women shouldn't have the right to wear whatever they want because it's not generally accepted.
User avatar #167 to #162 - awesomenessdefined (01/10/2013) [-]
What the hell is wrong with you? Have you just been ignoring every single thing I've said so far? Women have the right to wear whatever they want. They don't have the right to stop me from calling them a slut.
User avatar #171 to #167 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
What the hell is wrong with you?
You think that because a woman shows off her body, she is some sexual tool? Some kind of self loathing sex object? She's not simply comfortable in her own skin? Or has my entire point been lost on you this entire time?
#210 to #171 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
Actually psychologically a woman who dresses provocatively, at least currently in the U.S, is suffering insecurity created by social standards. So although that I'm sure it's nice for people to wear whatever they want, sometimes it's unhealthy for them.
User avatar #230 to #210 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
That's a generalization, don't you think?
Perhaps a woman is particularly busty and she can't wear anything less than an extra large without showing a bit of cleavage? Maybe she's comfortable with her body and wants other people to see it as well? Maybe it's hot out and she wants to dress cool? Maybe she just prefers the way she looks in less clothing?
User avatar #183 to #171 - awesomenessdefined (01/10/2013) [-]
Being comfortable in your own skin was the first excuse for dressing like a slut.
Yes, if you are showing off your body, you definitely are doing it for attention.
User avatar #193 to #183 - TheCynic (01/10/2013) [-]
So we should assume everything based on people's appearances? Every woman who shows off her skin is an attention whore? Every guy who wears a sleeveless shirt is a red neck. And every black man is a violent thief. And every Jewish man is a penny-pinching ass.

I really hate the idea of calling a girl a slut because she likes having sex. Have you ever had sex? It's great. How could you blame some one for liking that?

IMO, I think calling a girl a slut is if she's 'proud' of it, like a douchey guy, that's my personal comparison.
User avatar #190 to #118 - newposterintown (01/10/2013) [-]
Calling a women a slut is just kind of a mean thing to do in general, though. In my opinion anyway.

I think that having a lot of sex is probably a bad idea, for a man or woman.
#141 to #118 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
Not a slut for liking sex, a slut for having sex with numerous partners outside of commitment. Yes, guys like this are equally despicable imho
User avatar #144 to #141 - jinjo (01/10/2013) [-]
Why can't people sleep around? It's their body, if they're being ethically and personally responsible and not hurting anybody in the process, who gives a **** ? Why is it an issue?

The only reason I make this argument is because I used to 'get around' and I realized that if I was a girl I would have been treated absolutely horribly for it. I guess I'm empathizing, but I made sure it was always responsible, and that my intentions were the same as theirs, and they wouldn't get hurt by it. Under those circumstances I don't see having sex as an issue at all.
#114 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
Here is some insight, this is coming from femanon, you don't have to believe me.

Women are aware of the fact that men look at and enjoy their bodies. When a woman dresses provocatively, she is either looking for power (my cousin is like this, she says it makes her smirk at all the guys 'oogling' her), or it has to do with her self-confidence. If a girl has low confidence she resorts to seeking attention from men to make herself feel better, unfortunately this is done in an unhealthy way, since dressing up their bodies, and comparing themselves to standards lowers their respect for their own bodies, which ultimately lowers their self-esteem, even if guys are giving them attention.

It's up to you how you want to take that information. I've always advised my guy friends to aim for girls who don't well, you know, flash them with each step. Because it either means she has low self-esteem and will fare questionably in an intimate relationship. Or it means she craves power and control over men, which although I know some guys like to wrestle with those types, but sometimes it also suggests that if she is willing to exploit her body to make herself feel good, she may be willing to do other things, such as cheat or lie.

As a female, I think it is very classless when another female has to pull DOWN THE HEM of her skirt so her ass doesn't show. The shortest skirt I own would be considered 'flirty' and that's the length I feel comfortable in. I also own skirt, because shaving my legs is a pain in the ass.

I believe a minor amount of modesty can go a long way. When a woman dresses like trash, she gets men that treat her like trash.
User avatar #106 to #101 - xjessicaxrabbitx (01/10/2013) [-]
Why? What's wrong with the body that it needs to be covered? Why is it okay to "treat someone like trash" because they show more skin?
User avatar #109 to #106 - Mebeshe (01/10/2013) [-]
It's usually subconscious. The woman who dresses like that, who sexulaizes her body, realizes that she has very little to offer a partner in the way of the mind or personality. And that partner that picks her picks her for her body, for how she looks, for the envy they get while she is hanging off of their arm. They do not pick her to love her, they do not pick her to cherish her. They pick her to use her and throw her away like a tissue. And the woman may protest, saying she wants a good partner, but until she changes her attitude about herself, her partners will continue to be selfish, egotistical, childish pricks who think with the mental age of a six year old.

User avatar #113 to #109 - xjessicaxrabbitx (01/10/2013) [-]
It is not subconscious. You are taught prejudice. It's because people like you think that's okay, but that is not always the case and how you dress does not determine your relationships. It's her decision, anyway. Why do you have to treat her badly? It's her body. She does what she wants with it. It does not effect you. If she wants to have to have those casual relationships, so what? If she wants to show off her body and find love, so what? If she wants to cover everything and be a lesbian, who cares? It's her choice, not yours. You have no right to treat her badly or think it's okay to treat her badly based on the amount of skin she is showing and how you personally feel about it. This also applies to men. People can dress how they want and have whatever kind of consenting relationships they want.
User avatar #115 to #113 - Mebeshe (01/10/2013) [-]
I never said I was the one treating them badly. I just keep my mouth shut when all those girls are crying because men treat them like **** . It's not my place to criticize, and I don't. I'm merely making observations based on many years of living in this world. I was always the one getting picked on by those girls because I didn't wear thongs or booty shorts. I was the one getting picked on because I was a virgin at 15. I was the one who had her jackets torn up, food thrown at her, gum smeared in her hair, all because I refused to dress like a slut. Now all those girls that made fun of me in high school for dressing modestly are pregnant and single. While I am going to culinary school and kicking ass in the kitchen. So please, do NOT assume that because I choose to state my opinions on this website, that I do so in real life as well.
User avatar #116 to #115 - xjessicaxrabbitx (01/10/2013) [-]
You have the right to dress how you want. My point is just that. If you want to cover up, cover up. If you want to show skin, show skin. It's your choice. It doesn't matter and shouldn't matter. Don't bitch about being judged, though, if you are going to go around judging others.

If those bitches are going to judge me for my choice in very comfortable undies, I will judge them right back.

Here's how I see it.

If you dress for attention, IE like an attention whore, you are in fact a whore. I frankly wouldn't want to date someone who dresses up to get as much attention from the opposite sex and same sex as possible, to me that screams of being worthless (As soon as you put all of your emphasis on the outside appearance instead of being a good intelligible person).

But either way at the end of the day your clothing says who you are. Most whores and sluts dress like sluts, or else I am sure, there would be a lot more Stripclubs where women dressed like Mormons. This is what college taught me, the chicks that look easy and dress easy are in fact 90% of the time easy.

My friend quietly quips, "God niners these days, you can see her ass"

It wasn't that quiet.

The girl tried to stuff her ass in and sped the **** away. It was great
