I'm from Michigan, but grew up in a family from Wisconsin.
You wouldn't believe how much I was bullied for calling fizzy drinks soda instead of pop

I just tend to call Pepsi, Coca Cola and drinks like that Coke. Might get me in trouble with the authorities one day...

It's a soda/soft drink. Pop is a verb, not a noun.

drink is a verb, so is it not a noun?

I'm from mid-Michigan and I say "pop", and so do most people around here, but I have friends from Wisconsin that say "soda". I don't mind "soda", but for some reason, I get really ******* furious when people say "soda pop".
#67 - trickytrickster (01/09/2013) [-]
I say Pop. This map also says I say pop.

Your chart says that my specific county says Coke, but is closer to saying pop than it is to saying soda.. This occurrence can be explained by the mass gathering of Yankees in the next town over.

Didn't think it'd be even close to that kind of right.

everyone says pop in my state...

I'm from the south. Every thing is a coke. You want a Dr. Pepper? You order a coke. You want a sprite? You order a coke. You want a Pepsi? What the **** is wrong with you.

Because Coke is a brand name? It's like going to Gamestop looking for Battlefield and Call of Duty and asking for DOOM.
User avatar #84 to #61 - Edi (01/09/2013) [-]
Pepsi master race. Coke really doesn't taste as good, more of a just brand name so people like it more. My opinion.

How it goes down south
"Would you like a coke?"
"Sure."
"Well what kind would ya like?"
"What kind do you have?"
"We got Mt. Dew, Pepsi, Mellow Yellow, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, 7-up, and Coca-Cola."
".........."
User avatar #131 to #47 - cullenatorguy (01/09/2013) [-]
I live in Alabama, this is how that situation would play out for me:

"Would you like a coke?"
"Sure."
"Well what kind would you like?"
"The coke kind? I'll take cherry coke if you have it."
"Sir, I meant what kind of soft drink."
" ***** , you said coke. If you wanted to know what kind of soda I wanted, just ******* say soda, bitch."
