Shes holding it correctly wit proper finger guard control. I see nothing wrong with this picture. She knows how to properly use a weapon.

Why don't we just only allow non-lethal weapons for home defense, like a paintball gun with cs gas instead of paint or just rubber bullets? Then you can buy all the real guns you want but leave them at the range in a lock up for when you want to use it in a sporting manner.
User avatar #1063 to #1011 - stickalicious (01/04/2013) [-]
should someone get into your house with a real gun and you're over here pelting them with paintball guns or rubber bullets, grant you they sting when you get hit, that persons gunna look at like "really? paintballs?" then you're done for anon...

Why dont we only allow alcoholic drinks to be bought and drunk in bars, and build the bars into a hotel and make it law to stay in the hotel until you are sober enough to return to public? That would cut down on drunk driving and car accidents right?
Because many people are killed by drunk drivers, that means my responsible drinking in my own home is responsible for those deaths and i should only be allowed to drink in a bar with security that allows no one to leave drunk or with alcohol.

That is no different from responsible gun owners wanting guns. Just because some nut job who should have been under close supervision commits such a deadly crime with a gun, which man has done since he has picked up a rock, that doesn't mean all legal and responsible gun owners should be punished. That's simply pathetic.

Only have guns for sporting purposes? Ok, then lets make anyone who drives anything more than a Sedan, SUV, or Pick-up truck (I.E. Sports cars, muscle cars, etc) leave them at designated car tracks for use because you dont NEED a high-speed sports car or a gas guzzling Hummer to drive on the streets to go where you need.

User avatar #1013 to #1011 - thedarkestrogue (01/04/2013) [-]
But then you'd have no gun for defense when someone inevitable breaks that law and enters your house with a real gun.

also implying there is a 100% chance your house will be broken into, despite the odds realistically being pretty small

have you never seen a tazer or dart gun ?
User avatar #1043 to #1040 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
Yes, and I've seen plenty of videos and read plenty police reports of multiple magazines from handguns and multiple rounds from an AR not taking down assailants on PCP .
User avatar #1075 to #1043 - thedarkestrogue (01/04/2013) [-]
Even on drugs, a bullet to the face kills.

fun fact .001 percent of burglars are on pcp buddy.
User avatar #1046 to #1045 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
Where do you get that statistic. Also what makes you think with a burglar in fear of his life that adrenaline won't be just a potent?
User avatar #1048 to #1046 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
oh and the statistics come from the CIA .
User avatar #1047 to #1046 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
cause science has proven adrenaline is no match for tranquilizers or electricity .
User avatar #1049 to #1047 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
Tranquilizers take time to work, and there are many police accounts of assailants on something as simple as speed or simply drunk not being affected by tasers. They are in my opinion inferior for defense.
User avatar #1053 to #1049 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
a tranquilizer gun does take about a minute to work .there are almost no accounts of the newer higher voltage tazers that the police have been using the past four years not working unless the criminal was on crazy amounts of drugs and as I said before most burglars and most people for that matter are not on drugs or at least not at the insane amounts need to be resistant to tazers.
User avatar #1055 to #1053 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
Well personally I wouldn't want to take the chance of anyone like that entering my home. Still though even small amounts of drugs and alcohol can reduce the effects of any taser by changing blood chemistry. I don't know if that would have an effect towards tranquilizers though so I won't speculate.
User avatar #1056 to #1055 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
slightly reducing the effect of a tazer is like slightly reducing the speed of a charging bull it is still gonna **** you up.
User avatar #1065 to #1056 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
I think you are overestimating the effect tasers may have on some people .
www.youtube.com/watch?v=avAH49NY_iY
Watch this video, skip to 2:05 to see my point. While it's also full of other examples of tasers working as designed it showcases that not everyone is effected the same by a charge regardless of intoxication levels.
User avatar #1066 to #1065 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
true there are a very few people who are more resistant to tazers (also notice he only had one electrode touching his skin) but the odds of one of them breaking into your house is astronomical.
User avatar #1076 to #1066 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
That is also true, but a point brought up in the video to consider is thick clothing that may be worn causing the probe/prong not to be able to make contact with the skin. Personally I don't hate tasers though, in fact I if I couldn't use/carry a firearm for defense my first choice would be a taser for the same reason that you've been arguing that they usually have a universal effect on most people.
Thing with taser though is that their effectiveness can be reduced by the dynamics of the situation. Say if you were in an area were you couldn't carry a firearm like a state that bans CCW and you're walking through a dark parking lot and a mugger accosts you, in this situation a taser may very well be useful since muggings are usually opportunistic they may be warded off easily such as with a taser. If they are a more aggressive person though tasering them may only escalate the situation, whereas the presence of more deadly defense such as a firearm, knife, etc. may deter even the more aggressive criminal.
User avatar #1098 to #1076 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
well if your constantly getting into situations with multiple assailants then you need to move to a better neighborhood or carry gas grenades plus Couldn't shooting one of them escalate the situation too and really your gonna kill people for trying to steal your wallet ? that doesn't seem extreme to you it is just a piece of leather. realistically tazers ward of would be assailants almost as well as guns and if you have mace to no one is gonna touch you.
User avatar #1104 to #1098 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
I never brought up multiple assailants, but in that situation I would advocate a firearm even more strongly. Plus I never said anything about discharging the firearm, the presence of one may deter a criminal in and of itself. It's like issuing an ultimatum, they decide where the situation goes from there, if they deescalate that's the end of it. If they turn even more violent, or pull their own weapon you are doing a favor to society by purging them from this violent potentially murderous individual. As for mace, from what I've seen it tends to just piss off determined attackers.
User avatar #1111 to #1104 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
maybe very determined attackers witch would be very rare in a crime of opportunity .
User avatar #1116 to #1111 - violenthandjob (01/04/2013) [-]
Which is why I think a taser would be more effective in a situation like that, but at the same time may escalate the situation. You never know how the criminal may react, they are still humans; each one is different and there's no good way to know what they might do, what their full intentions are, or what their capabilities are such as resisting non-lethal force if the confrontation turns violent.
User avatar #1118 to #1116 - timmywankenobi (01/04/2013) [-]
true but still that doesn't mean you shouldn't try non lethal force first and then if that fails you might use a gun. but really unless you live in a bad area these scenario's are very unlikely to occur.
User avatar #1028 to #1020 - thedarkestrogue (01/04/2013) [-]

I'm not certain about how I feel. On one hand, she looks like a responsible young lady and her dad would teach her how to exercise care around it, and she looks pretty ******* cool holding that. On the other, giving an underage girl a gun? She looks like she's about in the age where boys and drama is really important to her. You really have no idea if she'll decide to kill herself with that thing on a very emotional night alone in her room after getting broken up with through text.

People fear what they do not understand. Anti-gun folk do not understand the many purposes of weapons, being for self and home defense, hunting, shooting ranges, and above all for defense against your own government or invading enemy.

I often see "I do not understand why regular people need "Assault Rifles", they don't need them. And we really don't need any guns at all."...

Well maybe if you would understand, you might think differently.

Hey, that is the way the constitution was written, I am not making the rules up.
Perhaps we should limit the immense power of the government rather than allow them take little power from us. After all, our government is surely responsible for many more deaths per year than all U.S civilians with guns.
#1015 to #958 - atr (01/04/2013) [-]
But....there aren't really any assault rifle for civilians in America...
User avatar #1131 to #1015 - eight (01/04/2013) [-]
Notice the quotes, indicating sarcasm. It isn't really an assault rifle, yet the government still calls semi autos assault rifles simply because assault rifle is a negative sounding word. It is called propaganda.

see, I don't really agree with automatics and assault rifles. I think everyone is in a different situation, and to each their own. If you don't mind me asking, why is it that people "need" assault rifles and whatnot? (Not trying to be a dick, I'm legitimately curious)
#968 to #962 - nocandy (01/04/2013) [-]
I can bring up a whole host of quotes that show that the Founding Fathers were basically trying to legalize revolution, and assault weapons and automatics might be needed for that since you know, that's what the government will be using against you.

But on a personal level, they're a lot more fun than bolt-action rifle. range-shooting is one of my favorite pasttimes.
User avatar #967 to #962 - eight (01/04/2013) [-]
Nobody has assault rifles in America to my knowledge. They are already illegal.
People do not even understand what they are speaking out against.
#989 to #967 - xxxsonic fanxxx (01/04/2013) [-]
Unless you have a class 3 license.
#970 to #967 - nocandy (01/04/2013) [-]
automatics are illegal in a lot states provided they were put in circulation on or before 1984.
It requires a Class 3 license which requires that you register all your class 3 weapons (automatics, short barreled rifles, silencers and "destructive weaponry") with the federal government and comes with a $500 annual tax.
User avatar #976 to #970 - eight (01/04/2013) [-]
And try to come by one of those automatics, you can't. To my knowledge, you can not sell them, buy them, give them away, they are your personal property. If you die, it is required that they are confiscated.
#980 to #976 - nocandy (01/04/2013) [-]
http://www.gunbroker.com/Machine-Guns/BI.aspx

Under law they have to ship it to a Class 3 Licensed Dealer, who can then give it to you assuming you pass background checks.

#988 to #982 - nocandy (01/04/2013) [-]
Yeah automatics are really expensive. The cheapest thing on there is an mp5 for 2k.
#973 to #970 - nocandy (01/04/2013) [-]
meant "are legal" not "illegal"
#969 to #967 - LeviV (01/04/2013) [-]
I agree with you there. I'm not exactly a gun nut, nor am I anti gun. I see a lot of the latter being morons thinking all guns are evil and need to go, and the former claiming they're the solution to everything. It seems like there's no happy medium, y'know?
User avatar #974 to #969 - eight (01/04/2013) [-]
Yeah. I also think it is wrong to make the good people suffer for the few bad peoples actions.
#978 to #974 - LeviV (01/04/2013) [-]
Exactly. Though I think everyone has a duty to be responsible with their weapons and whatnot (not only guns, but blades, tasers, bows, etc) and sadly that's not always the case.

Yeah, well when the next dictator takes charge and invades your country, and it will happen eventually, you will wish you had weapons to defend your friends and family.

Also, your rate of crime is equal in ratio to Americas for the amount of guns available in comparison to gun death. It just comes with the territory.
