Well, technically America has a "public" health care system of sorts, in the sense that if you go to any hospital you will get treated within reason. (Not to mention medicare and medicaid.) All those stories of poor people dying on the streets after being refused care are grossly overblown. Our system is just very bloated, inefficient, and expensive. That's the thing about the US government--it sucks at just about everything. That's why I personally don't think the US could--at a federal level, at least--instate a universal health care system a la Canada. We have the money, just not the efficiency.

To Europeans and even my fellow Americans who do not understand, let me give you a better picture as to why our healthcare is not free...

It's not just about health quality, but politics and the government structure of the country itself. Every [successful] example of free health care appears in countries with these qualities:
-relatively smaller population
-population majority leans to one side of political spectrum (mostly left)
-more powerful government
-uniform country

However, applying that to America would be insane and to the surprise of many, NOT provide any quality healthcare because it does not have ANY of these qualities. The country grew up under a constitution that gave power to the states, not the federal govt., which created a wide diversity of opinion, but also opposition and competition. Yet this atmosphere is ideal for a healthcare system that requires more direct payment. It's how they make money. (but note, they cannot refuse to treat you. They charge high both to compensate and to acquire the services of specialists, who I know are far more hard to reach in a free healthcare system)

If you were to give us a free healthcare system, it would just go totally wrong. First of all, taxes would soar. You pay for healthcare, even if "free" is in the title. It's just being passed through government hands from your taxes to them. And as expected, the more hands the money is passed through, the less that reach the hospitals. To compensate, they increase the tax demand, and your taxes go up. And this does not take into account other consequences such as immediate opposition from those of an opposite political opinion, the longer waiting times, inability to see specialists, etc.

Many think that each country is simply land with borders that if someone else is doing something, that you can copy it and gain the same results. Many more factors, even hundreds, can work against it in the end, achieving a totally different result than expected.

I'm tired of all the bullshit people throw at America. I'm getting real tired of it, OP.

You all criticize our way of life like you can turn around and genuinely say yours is by far better.

Then they go on rants about how America's government is failing.

I just turned 18. That means my voice in government has just about began. Don't go bitching to me about healthcare, welfare, abortion, and all that. You think I like it? I had nothing to fucking do with it.

I sat in my school chair drawing dicks on pieces of paper and passing it around like it's the funniest fucking thing in the world.

P.S. : I love how everyone imagines Americans as fat white people on scooters with tight clothes.

I'm Filipino-American.

TL;DR -- Fuck you, OP. Find the biggest bags of dicks and just have a party.

We have no money to pay for anymore gov funded programs. What do you want us to do. Borrow more money so that our debt grows even more nd everyone suffers, or make people pay for doctors because the government cant.

I support universal healthcare and all that, but

The reason we appoint people lawyers all comes down to the way we started as a country. America came about due to legal oppression that we did not have the tools to fight. This caused us to seek revolution.

Now, hundreds of years later, lawyers are free to ensure that you cannot be legally oppressed.

OP is clearly another faggot who doesn't understand the system.

You can go to any hospital in America - literally any single one - and get treated almost immediately for your problem. However, the money to pay for it comes (or SHOULD come) straight from you or your insurance company.

Also, fuck ObamaCare. We can't afford that shitty piece of legislation. We can't afford fucking anything anymore.

>tfw we have the most innovations and the best Doctors

>tfw free healthcare isn't as free as we'd like to think.

>tfw Canadian vet/animal care is much cheaper, much more innovative, and takes less time to get shit done when compared to canadian "free" healthcare.

I don't know, America has the best doctors by far. If anyone needs a serious surgery they always come to america, i never see people traveling to europe to see a doctor.
