Ok, area, as like route 4, route 6 viridian forest, etc.
Or new area as in, once you get 2 full screens away from your last attempt to cathc something.
User avatar #115 to #113 - VincentKing ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
only 1 pokemon per area, so route 1 you catch the first pokemon you see. If you have no pokeballs or you kill it, then too bad, its gone, cant try again. It limits the amount of pokemon you can have in it.
User avatar #119 to #115 - Crusader (12/30/2012) [-]
What if you don't catch one, leave and come back at a later date?
User avatar #120 to #119 - VincentKing ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
you cant catch it. It is the first pokemon seen in the area all together. You cannot return to the area in hopes of catching something.
User avatar #114 to #113 - ganjalf (12/30/2012) [-]
Areas are intended as single routes, caves, forests, cities, buildings with catchable pokemon ecc.
User avatar #110 - jokeface (12/30/2012) [-]
You forgot the rule that you have to nickname all your Pokemon so it feels more personal and hurts more when you lose them.
User avatar #112 to #110 - Crusader (12/30/2012) [-]
Nickname them their real names.

so if i do the Nuzlocke challenge, and go ************ , can I just rage quit and be a pussy?
User avatar #108 - kirbyy (12/30/2012) [-]
Everytime I try the nuzlocke challenge, I pussy out. I hate myself. I can't even put myself through fake emotional trauma.

I always watched Haydunn on youtube do the Nuzlocke Challenge. He was really good at it actually.

BlackLightAttack is also pretty good
User avatar #97 - seniorpokeman (12/30/2012) [-]
So wait, can you use pokemon centers?
Also, can you catch more of the same pokemon? Like, if you first find a bidoof, can you catch more bidoofs?
User avatar #100 to #97 - pensketch (12/30/2012) [-]
Only one per area, so you can't just catch 5 bidoof in one sitting, but if that's the first pokemon you see in each area, then you can catch it
User avatar #101 to #100 - seniorpokeman (12/30/2012) [-]
What defines an area? Like, are they separated by routes? Or by sections of caves, too?
User avatar #102 to #101 - pensketch (12/30/2012) [-]
I believe it means routes
User avatar #96 - kobemamba (12/30/2012) [-]
Can I keep the starter?
User avatar #98 to #96 - pensketch (12/30/2012) [-]
yes, until it faints
User avatar #106 to #98 - chaossniper (12/30/2012) [-]
but you can't release starters they come back.
plus if i go back to an area can use PC or/and catch the 1st pokemon i encounter
User avatar #111 to #106 - jokeface (12/30/2012) [-]
Excuse me, I released my Chikorita in SoulSIlver so I could do the Joey Challenge (whole game with just a Rattata). To my knowledge, the only one you can't release is Pikachu in Yellow version.
User avatar #116 to #111 - VincentKing ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
If its friendship is full, there is a chance it will come back
User avatar #131 to #116 - chaossniper (12/30/2012) [-]
thats why i kept coming back

My friend on FJ told me he was going to try the nuzlocke challenge

Then he deleted his account

And no one has seen him since

He's probably dead
User avatar #77 - pokemonnuzlocke (12/30/2012) [-]
I love these so much, I can't play a pokemon game without doing nuzlocke. Obviously because of my name.

Seriously, everyone should do one of these, I cried like a man when ozai my samurott died to skyla. The bonds in nuzlocke are forever <3
User avatar #72 - ihatecarltonbanks (12/30/2012) [-]
ive never tried this but am considering it. i would however change the rules a bit. you can catch any pokemon you want but may never have more than six. no exceptions. this means that you would have to make the choice of either using less than six to catch certain later game pokemon or even making the tough choice of releasing one youve had all along for a new one... seems like it would make the game itself easier yet the emotional part harder
User avatar #70 - peanutbuttahjellah (12/30/2012) [-]
The fact that anyone thinks it's that hard is just stupid. It's incredibly easy. It's possible to beat the game with a single Pokémon so long as you aren't ******* stupid.
User avatar #92 to #70 - RequieminMortis (12/30/2012) [-]
It IS hard, but it's MEANT to be challenging. As you said, you just need to be smart about how you approach it.

Also, I call ******** on beating the game with only one Pokemon until somebody proves to me that you can beat the original Pokemon games with ONLY a Charmander (first two Gyms are super-effective against it, and you don't get Iron Tail to cheat your way past Brock).
User avatar #105 to #92 - airmax (12/30/2012) [-]
When I was younger playing Blue, I had no intention of raising any other Pokemon besides my Blastoise. I beat the game.
User avatar #93 to #92 - peanutbuttahjellah (12/30/2012) [-]
Well I mean only a single pokémon for combat. HM slaves don't count. Easy as hell man, just gotta know how to play the game.
User avatar #81 to #70 - yourmomiswatching (12/30/2012) [-]
It's just for fun, you don't have to get all uppity about it.

My bad. I get passionate about certain things.

Especially about this ******* news story that they had about some God damn kid that's only a couple years younger than me that got some ****** game published for the iPhone ( **** the iPhone, **** sucks) that I recreated in around 30 minutes... Where's my God damn news story?

This doesn't make the game any harder. The easiest way to beat any of the pokemon games is to just use your starter the entire time. By the fourth gym or so, it's 10 levels ahead of anything you're going to fight.
#61 - senglish (12/30/2012) [-]
This is actually just called hard mode it is not ******* nuzlock'e's to own there is even a really good copy pasta that goes with it too.
#62 to #61 - senglish (12/30/2012) [-]
And you also HAVE to name your pokemon to build an even stronger connection.

I just went through the e4 in Soulsilver.
I lost all but my two newest members. I ended up taking down 3 of Lance's dragons with a Tauros, just barely. It was my fault. I didn't train enough. I didn't even mean for it to be a real run of the e4, I just kind of went for it to test how much more training I needed, planning to shut the game off and restart from the last save. But then it autosaved and I couldn't go back...
Now I'm taking on Kanto mostly with my Tauros. He's a bro if there ever was one.

I remember losing my Linoone in the fight against Groudon in my run of Ruby. I had gotten it on Route 110. It was the first Pokemon I caught, that I had kept with me throughout the game. It had helped me so many times, picking up Ultra Balls, Nuggets, Rare Candies, Full Restores, PP Ups, Proteins. It was my most reliable companion, even more reliable than my Swampert, despite its relatively weak stats. I should have realized that that earthquake would kill it. I should have realized.

RIP Dodger. He's picking up halos in heaven now.

Lets post the ones we like, i lost all my bookmarks due to issues with my computer and cannot remember any names other than ara's nuzlocke run and freddy's nuzlocke.
list your favorites, fellow feelers
User avatar #45 - rjake (12/30/2012) [-]
What does it mean by area though?
User avatar #47 to #45 - CheesePwnsHard (12/30/2012) [-]
Each new route. Say you go to route one and you find a pidgey. You either catch THAT pidgey or you don't catch a pokemon in route 1 at all. Not the gender you wanted? Not the level you hoped for? Too bad. When you get to route 2, you can catch one more. Continue like that.
User avatar #55 to #47 - rjake (12/30/2012) [-]
Okay, just making sure. And what about things like caves? Is it one per cave, or one per floor, or..?
User avatar #56 to #55 - CheesePwnsHard (12/30/2012) [-]
I believe it's one for cave. Definitely not per floor, though.
