actually its quite simple to read, when the notes split like that its kind of like a pick a line to read and play that line through the piece, nothing else matters after you chose which notes your going to play, although site reading a piece like that would be a bitch...
User avatar #55 to #45 - thedemonic (12/26/2012) [-]
i hjave been playing guitar for almost 3 years and i have no idea how to read that type of tabulator
User avatar #47 to #45 - alfredtheweak (12/26/2012) [-]
I don't think you're a pianist.
User avatar #48 to #47 - pituser (12/26/2012) [-]
nope i play mostly brass intruments, but if i must i can do reed(even though I hate it) but thats basically how we read that music and if there are enough players each section can be played, but we don't have every note within and easy reach like on the piano
User avatar #49 to #48 - alfredtheweak (12/26/2012) [-]
I know, I play a brass instrument as well as piano. A pianist plays chords that take multiple instruments in an orchestra or band to play. Even so, that would be an incredibly difficult piece to play.
I'm guessing that last piece was written for four people to play at once, though.

Who decided to make sheet music so damn difficult to read.

You'll get used to it with practice.

almost as easy as reading english. just takes some time.

You need about 30 fingers to play that last song
User avatar #79 to #78 - moooossseeee (12/26/2012) [-]
I think it's a score. IE the director's copy that has every instruments' music from the selection on it.

That or the hardest song known to mankind.
User avatar #82 to #79 - toxicplague (12/26/2012) [-]
the dual lines tell us that it will be repeated in verse, the stacked notes show us that multiple people will be playing the different lined up notes.

all and all though it looks too fake, it made perfect shapes which means it was created for the object of looking hard, not play ability.
User avatar #84 to #82 - moooossseeee (12/26/2012) [-]
Ah, you got me there. I know enough about music to talk about it, but I'm not the most knowledgeable person on the topic, so I concede here.

**** man. I am a musician who CAN read sheet music, and that last piece is still practically unreadable to me... WHAT IS THIS?!

#46 to #33 - John Cena (12/26/2012) [-]
Idk about you, but since you do read sheet music maybe you have a better opinion than me on this, but I don't see the point in reading sheet music. I practice scales just fine, and usually play stuff by ear or, sometimes tabs. I geuss since i play guitar and drums it's not necessarily important, but for like trumpet, claranet, flute etc, they would find more use out of it. Idk thats just my take on it, i find it very unnecessary
#50 to #46 - butplug (12/26/2012) [-]
With trumpet, you cant just see what buttons to push to make the sound, you need to see how high it is ment to look.

Faerie's Aire and Death Waltz by John Stump. It's a joke piece of sheet music that's physically impossible to play. I show it to musician friends I know and we share a lot of laughs due to all the ridiculous crap written in it.

For anyone that cares to read this, the song portrayed in this picture is supposed to be unplayable, with dumb **** thrown in everywhere like placing a fish on your head and banging a triangle at times. Some people actually did it on youtube.
There's also a video going around claiming to be the 'Death Waltz' performed by John Stump, but has nothing to do with the real song. It's actually a piano cover he created for a popular anime song.

You're welcome.
User avatar #218 - AMATORY (12/26/2012) [-]
That last one is a troll... I was staring at the original trying to make sense of it when I looked at the author and read: "arranged y accident." So I started reading the notes on it and it's things like "bicycles come in here" or "add more monkeys if needed."

The last one is called 'Fairy's Air and Death' and it's fortunately a joke. Sadly, things like that aren't always jokes because there are pretentious assholes who think that sitting on their keyboard or just randomly hitting letters and keys produces music.
User avatar #157 to #123 - datgermanguy (12/26/2012) [-]
I guess for some people, complicated equals talent or something like that. But a lot of great things have very simple basics.
User avatar #215 to #157 - Hreidmar (12/26/2012) [-]
Complicated and simple alike are good so long as they're sensible. There's no talent in random noise, and I especially can't stand those 'artists' that say "Oh, find your own meaning in this." No. That's not how it ******* works. You have a meaning, an emotion, or something like that in your head, and you create the work. We may have to analyze it, to search it thoroughly to find the meaning, but there has to be something there. /rant

(sorry for the rant. I'm a classical composer, and I can't stand the fact that obnoxious, pretentious morons write two bars of 'tap fingerbones on keyboard' and call it a masterpiece)

That's like saying flutes are absolutely stupid because they can only play 1 note at a time. Every instrument has its limitations and strengths. The world would be boring if people only played piano.

the last one is actually arrayed for 4 pianos at once. it's called fairie's aire/death waltz by john stump. i transcribed my own version for three guitars at one point, absolutely insane to try all at once, but easy if you break it down
User avatar #29 to #8 - Daemonseed (12/26/2012) [-]
Is your version playable?
User avatar #81 to #29 - sovereignsunkown (12/26/2012) [-]
if you have a 7 string guitar, and 2 other people with 7 string guitars, yeah. it's actually pretty easy. there's also a really great songsterr tab of the first few minutes for one acoustic guitar, although once again, it's easier if you find the octaves/harmonies and break it down into 3-4 parts
User avatar #163 to #81 - Daemonseed (12/26/2012) [-]
Have you got a recorded version of it?
User avatar #194 to #163 - sovereignsunkown (12/26/2012) [-]
unfortunately no. Eric Caldrone does however, and he also has tabs for his available, as far as i know.
search fairies aire/death waltz meets metal on youtube and check the description for links.

Faeries Aire and Death Waltz (The 4th frame) is a Classical recomposition of U.N. Owen was her (Death Waltz), spliced with another song. Faeries Aire and Death Waltz has never been played by human nor machine, because it's impossible to do so.

All of you are idiots. Such "Faeries Aire and Death Waltz" is a joke song by John Stump. The name of this song is commonly tagged on the theme of the secret boss from Touhou 6, where the song is called 'U.N. Owen was Her?.'

How can it be impossible for a machine to play?
#151 to #146 - Nihatclodra (12/26/2012) [-]
Because the Musical score is gibberish. There are too many notes that are both impossible to play, and several of these notes played at the same time by the same instrument. It's no longer music, it's just a mess.

Not trying to argue, just curious: if you simply played both songs at once, in the same key and tempo etc., how would that fall short of a machine being able to play the combined song?
User avatar #175 to #171 - Nihatclodra (12/26/2012) [-]

I listened to it, still just death waltz. The Video is mislabeled. And it's not that the notes are too complex it's that the notes don't make sense. The notes are quite literally impossible. That musical score isn't music: it's gibberish.
