A cultish group of over zealous christians who expolit freedom of speech laws to pickett their dogma (along the lines of: God hates everyone who dies unnaturally). They go to the funerals of soldiers and dead children to celebrate their deaths because they believe that a non- natural death is the wrath of god. I like how you think respecting the families in mourning over one of the biggest losses of young life in this country is "little unimportant **** ".

I can't begin to fathom how these people feel, and I certainly don't wish that feeling on my enemies.
Admittedly this country isn't going in the path I'd like it to, but these so called little things gives the communities ways to bond, connect, and grow stronger over.
Unfortunately it is over a tragedy in this case.

I have a question: What did the WBC do regarding this, I have heard of it but I don't know about it, can someone explain please?
User avatar #251 to #245 - rexthedino (12/21/2012) [-]
They made a statement that God sent the killer to kill the children because of gay marriage and that they would picket at the children's funeral.

So basically the most disrespectful thing that you can think of.
User avatar #254 to #251 - arsenalthegunners (12/21/2012) [-]
WTF?! seriously? okay I would have killed them by the same gun the guy used in this massacre, just to say "this is a message from god, because of stupid people like you, the world is suffering"
#119 - anon (12/21/2012) [-]
Leaving this anonymously because I'm not in the mood to argue or defend my statement.

If I'm every diagnosed with a terminal disease, knowing I will die, I will show up to a WBC protest, whether it be a soldiers funeral, childrens funeral or whatever the case may be, and beat these mother ******* with a ******* bat. Run them down with a car. Don't force your ******* beliefs down anyones throat you insensitive, mind warped cunts.
User avatar #123 to #119 - CorporalObvious (12/21/2012) [-]
Surely by acting against them, you're forcing your views down their throats, no?
While you're fighting their view which is undoubtedly a horrible one, your attempting to neutralise them is almost, if not worse, than theirs.
Food for thought.

when a group of individuals choose to "thank god" for dead soldiers, who die to protect the rights that they use, when the thank god for dead children (or plan on it) it is no longer about who's views a correct. It becomes a hate crime. If you honestly think that it would be acceptable for them to show up at the funeral of those poor children, in front of those parents and essentially say, "I'm so happy your child died violently and bloody" then i am sad for you. That church needs to be shut down, and the members need to get out of this country. Send them all to cuba or even the congo. we shall see how long protesting works for them there

Because the law protects them from such violence, they are acting under the 1st amendment (freedom of speech) which therefore protects their rights to be raging assholes with blatantly wrong opinions.

It's basically the same question a lot of people have asked "Where do we draw the line?" Where is the point where we stop protecting people because of the laws because their beliefs morally incorrect, but then people panic and say then how do we determine what's morally wrong or right and how do we determine when we would arrest someone based on their beliefs

And then someone would say "What is this communist China I thought we lived in America." and people would actually start defending people just like WBC

No, they just stood there. They didn't say anything or prevent anyone from entering the school. The campus permitted it, so there are also no loitering charges. The WBBC was just to chicken **** to try and enter.

People support them being there, were the WBC is not wanted. Technically they both have rights to be there and say what they want, but it is more so the idea that the WBC is there saying what a good thing happened with the killings.

Actually they do not have the right to say whatever they please. Freedom of speech does have its restraints. And fyi the angels are using their freedom of Assembly right. Last, whatever "right" WBC has, good on the angels for standing up for those families.

#279 to #215 - anon (12/21/2012) [-]
Just restating my reply to pepemex. All they did was stand there. They did not riot, they did not prevent entrance into the school, and the campus permitted them to be there. The made no attempt to stop anyone from entering the campus. The WBBC was just too afraid to attempt entering. No one made any threats, they just stood there. That is not a crime, nor is it violating any amendments.
User avatar #232 to #209 - pepemex (12/21/2012) [-]

Yeah and those parents whose kids they are burying have a right to not want those assholes anywhere near the funerals.
They have no connection to these people and have no right bothering them in such ways during this time of morning.

Even if you were to try to look at it through their eyes they have absolutely no point in being there. There so called reasoning for protesting make no sense at all. Why would "God" punish 1st graders for allowing tolerance of gays. They don't even know what that means. There is no connection to gay people whatsoever about this shooting.
They are nothing but inconsiderate assholes that will all burn in hell (if it exists). I guarantee they would be flipping the **** out if they were to have even half of what they dish out, handed right back to them. I hope so much that will be legally seen as a hate and lose their tax cuts. Then maybe they will finally go away if they can't afford their ******** .
User avatar #246 to #239 - pepemex (12/21/2012) [-]

There is a point when you just don't do the things they do. You DO NOT go the funeral of a fallen soldier or 6 year old child and say they died because of homosexuality. It may be someone's opinion to say such things but it's just something you just shouldn't do period. Yes, we have freedom of speech but there is a point when you keep you mouth shut.
#242 to #235 - rfcoke (12/21/2012) [-]
Should keep your mouth shut* That does not mean they have to. People complain all the time that the government is taking away rights, but this is a case of people trying to take away the rights of other people.

All I ment it's common sense to keep your mouth shut when it comes to certain things no matter what your beliefs are. There is a such thing as a silent opinion. Seriously... it's hardly a week after the shooting in Newtown. The bodies aren't even cold, atleast wait until the New Year. Give the families time to grieve and get through the holidays the best they can.

And yes, I do understand common sense isn't all that common.
User avatar #260 to #204 - srslyjakecease (12/21/2012) [-]
What WBBC is doing takes freedom of speech, ***** in its mouth, pulls down its pants, shoves a dildo the size of Texas up its urethra, and then twists its nipples, all while laughing hysterically at the look of agony and indignation on speech's metaphorical face.

what the group was doing is taking the beloved freedom of speech to far. they murder the rights of others by abusing theirs. You have the right to say what you want, yes. You do not however have the right to abuse others verbally, which is exactly what they where planning to do by yelling that the deaths of their children is the will of God.
