That's retarded, hating all Christians because of one insanely radical group is like hating pizza because of one topping.

A loud minority will always do more than a silent majority. Because Westboro is out there making asses of themselves "FOR JESUS", it makes the rest of us Christians look terrible. It doesn't help that all you ever see online is pictures of Westboro. Think about how many times you've seen a picture of the Westboro Baptist ******** protesting a funeral, and it's captioned "Christian Logic" or something to that effect? How often do you see pictures of Christians actually being Christian circling the web? You don't, because it doesn't serve the internet's ego or id. If the content were truly distributed according to real world acts, then we'd see a few Westboro Baptists posts here and there, and we'd be flooded with pictures of good people doing good things and spreading the gospel in a reasonable and caring way, all-the-while being respectful of other people and their beliefs.
**** , I forgot I was on the internet for a second there, umm... Christians suck and it's so much smarter being Atheist!

Honestly, I'd be a hell of a lot more impressed if he was a Christian after such an abusive upbringing.

(Just as I would be impressed if a person raised by abusive "atheists" grew up to say "you're wrong and you're horrible people, but that doesn't mean that atheism is wrong")

Also, did anyone read "He is a Lesbian gay Bisexual" and think WTF before getting to the next line? Funniest part of the post.

being an atheist doesn't make him a better (or worse) person. it just means he's rebelling against his parents.
the other things, such as being an activist for the lgbt community and speaking out against child abuse make him better in that he's advocating tolerance and humane treatment for children.
the fact that he's an atheist is your favorite part kind of detracts from the point you are trying to make, because it makes you seem like a narrow minded person.

Faith is based on nothing but feelings.
Atheists tend to value evidence higher than feelings.

I won't say which is better, but typically if you base decisions off of evidence, you're a bit smarter than someone who doesn't.
#275 to #263 - internetzsoviet (12/19/2012) [-]
Because blind faith is unproductive and leads to no where.

Also everything wasn't created from nothing. You cannot destroy or create matter, smartypants.
#279 to #275 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
Thats the point of my picture above.
User avatar #282 to #279 - internetzsoviet (12/19/2012) [-]
I know it isn't. That argument is ******* stupid. Anyone with 7th grade science knows that everything didn't come from "nothing". Maybe people should learn how things came about and how scientists discovered how things happened before saying we just assume everything sprouted up from ******* nothing.
#290 to #282 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
Ok, so how was everything created?
User avatar #294 to #290 - internetzsoviet (12/19/2012) [-]
I'm not going to sit here and explain the entire theory. Look it up for yourself. But because you are most likely already indoctrinated into the thought pattern that it was created by a fictitious entity referred to as "God", it wont make sense to you.

#308 to #294 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
Im ready to hear whatever you have to say. The reason you dont want to share is probably because you are unsure of its truth.
User avatar #315 to #308 - internetzsoviet (12/19/2012) [-]
Of course I'm unsure of its origin. Was I there when it was created? No. Was anyone? No.

But I'm damn sure going to listen to the intelligent people in laboratories who actually test things with their physical hands rather than sit down and say: "Ok, since I don't know how this place was created, I think I'll just make up a story about how some person in the sky did instead."
#325 to #315 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
Sooo... the big bang? I have yet to hear your theory
User avatar #366 to #325 - noblexfenrir (12/19/2012) [-]
Sigh you are frustrating, you obviously are some one who does little research and then claims noone else is proving it to you, means you're correct.

You are the reason scientists cannot say there was "nothing" before the big bang, because they have a completely different meaning for nothing but theists have been spewing that "Something can't come from nothing!!" since they first heard about it. What they essentially were talking about is based on hypothesis' revolving around quantum fluctuations before the big bang.

Then the big bang occurred, yes that's it. We cannot make assumptions on what happened before because we just don't have enough evidence yet. And anyone claiming that because we haven't found the answer yet must mean god did it, is a delusional fool.
User avatar #424 to #366 - internetzsoviet (12/19/2012) [-]
You explained exactly what I was thinking.

Thank you.
User avatar #311 to #263 - cullenatorguy (12/19/2012) [-]
Also, where did god come from?
#314 to #311 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
According to my religion, He didn't come from anywhere, He just was there. He is everything. He created everything.
User avatar #368 to #314 - angeljc (12/19/2012) [-]
sooo..by the logic from the picture....youre also ignorant.

You believe that a man who was just there, always was, always will be, magically created a world with all the living creatures that have ever existed. Also, man was corrupted by a talking snake who convinced the Eve to eat a magical apple in God's magical garden.

I grew up catholic, still believe there is something out there and in no way think being one denomination of belief is better than the other, but to be bashful is to go against your own religion as the bible states several times to "treat thy neighbor well", theres no exceptions written in that say if they dont believe what you do you have to right to belittle them. OP wasn't saying he was smarter for being an atheist, he though it was awesome because despite the environment he grew up in, he was able to break away form that life and be a better person. Christians dont annoy me, extremist religious fanatics do, I dont shove my beliefs down their throats, so they shouldnt do it to me.
User avatar #317 to #314 - cullenatorguy (12/19/2012) [-]
Uhuh, which makes just as much sense as everything being created from nothing.

User avatar #342 to #327 - cullenatorguy (12/19/2012) [-]
The big bang is actually fairly explainable. Do some research.
#360 to #342 - anon (12/19/2012) [-]
I have, just a little joke. The theory i like best is the idea that everything outside of the universe is energy, and quantum information was able to materialize from the energy itself. Or beta decay, i forgot ehich.
User avatar #378 to #360 - cullenatorguy (12/19/2012) [-]
Everything is made of energy, though.
#381 to #378 - anon (12/19/2012) [-]
Exactly, everything lies outside our universe, yet nothing (though there is no such thing as nothing). I any case, we dont know what caused it yet, but we can make a good inference.
#361 to #360 - anon (12/19/2012) [-]
*which
#321 to #317 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
I dont understand. I never said atheists were less intelligent. I just stated that SOME atheists believe that theists are less intelligent because they believe in God.
User avatar #326 to #321 - cullenatorguy (12/19/2012) [-]
I was referring to that picture of yours.
User avatar #352 to #263 - noblexfenrir (12/19/2012) [-]
Correction:

The knowledge that before the big bang we don't have enough evidence to make a supposition yet, which resulted in the big bang that formed our universe, which after billions of years collisions and gravity formed our earth, and after another few billion years, abiogenesis (I'm using it for this because it is as of right now the best supported theory for the origin of life) occurred creating life, after this evolution progressed all living things into what we know today.

Atheism isn't relevant to intelligence, it's related to logic and reason. Religion isn't stupid or idiotic, it's related to ignorance. This is due to how they both come to conclusions, atheism relies on science and reason when making their decision to refute the theists, and theists use faith in place of evidence to make their decision god exists.
#273 to #263 - lolabunny (12/19/2012) [-]
It's not that people believe that thiests are less intelligent, it's just that when you're on the outside looking in following a religion and being told to only believe what was written way before your time and to discount any evidence to the contrary, no matter how solid it is, seems a lot like willful ignorance.
User avatar #283 to #263 - sirchopchop (12/19/2012) [-]
Why do people see Theism as more intelligent? That's so annoying. If I don't believe in a God, why does that make me not smart? I don't understand some people.

See how I can say the same thing just by changing a few words? This argument goes nowhere.

By the way, study simple sentence structure before you "don't understand others."

#286 to #283 - midgetsturnmeon (12/19/2012) [-]
