This post is ******* retarded.

His rank was actually captain.
Everyone called Jack Sparrow, "Captain Jack or Captain Jack Sparrow.

I don't even want to waste time bringing rank structure into this.

OP, you failed today, and so did everyone that thumbed you up.

Actually a master chief petty officer

Everybody calls him master chief
User avatar #76 to #26 - thepalmtoptiger (12/11/2012) [-]
But the ranks master chief petty officer and master chief petty officer of the navy are normally abbreviated to master chief anyway.

I wondered why a master chief was taking orders... and not commanding a ship.
User avatar #34 to #32 - gildemoono (12/11/2012) [-]
i guess its because its still only an enlisted rank.
#38 to #34 - bulbakip (12/11/2012) [-]
well Idk much. but I will after the Navy recruiters teach me the terminology.. but for now, ill be guessing on rank names and orders.

I also asked if we had a Space Command yet... they said no :(
User avatar #39 to #38 - gildemoono (12/11/2012) [-]
Well on the bright side. it has already been decided that space combat in the future will be dictated as naval, so you could potentially be in space command in the future.
User avatar #40 to #39 - bulbakip (12/11/2012) [-]
oh it has!? then hot diggidy damn. How do you know this?
User avatar #42 to #40 - gildemoono (12/11/2012) [-]
Its another of those science-fiction becoming science things. Nerds always referred to space battles as naval conflicts due to the boat-like appearance of the quintessential starship. This became pretty engrained and actually made quite a bit of sense, so when the question arose, it was decided that the navy would handle auronautics.
User avatar #43 to #42 - bulbakip (12/11/2012) [-]
I get that, but why wouldn't the US military just create another branch?
User avatar #44 to #43 - gildemoono (12/11/2012) [-]
It will probably be an independent branch, but simply be nominally referred to as navy. Just like the unsc is "space command" but it uses naval terminology.

also, someone must be butthurt
#46 to #44 - bulbakip (12/11/2012) [-]
Oh never mind, a third party must be butthurt... HAH that is okay then, let them be butthurt. We have science to discuss.
#45 to #44 - bulbakip (12/11/2012) [-]
uhm not at all. I just wanted to know more. I was HOPING to have an intellectual discussion on future space operations but i see i'm to be thumbed down.
