I can never find the death of a soldier sad, it's exactly what they signed up for.

User avatar #183 to #166 - xxeternaleclipsexx (12/11/2012) [-]
Really dude? Seriously?
Someone I know whom I was close to died serving, so I take this seriously. They don't go to war just to die, they fight and protect you and every other American/Canadian citizen. They fight for YOU and you can't even feel sad about that?
User avatar #184 to #183 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
I'll cry when they sign up, how's that? Fair compromise?
User avatar #190 to #184 - HOLYCARP (12/11/2012) [-]
Cry when they sign up, and cry when they meet their deaths, comrade.
User avatar #192 to #190 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
They signed up to walk into a firefight, I'll cry at their signing their own death warrents.
User avatar #199 to #192 - HOLYCARP (12/11/2012) [-]
You must ask yourself, what would happen if there was no military overseas. You could come up with many many answers because you really don't know what's happening over their unless your actually there and have been for awhile (and not in a 5 star resort in the middle of a DMZ).

Do not talk about things you know nothing of.
User avatar #201 to #199 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
What if no countries HAD a military? Ask yourself that.
User avatar #230 to #201 - HOLYCARP (12/12/2012) [-]
The worlds population is estimated 7,021,836,029. Global demilitarization? Not gonna ******* happen. Say all the countries on the earth declared they would all destroy the weapons they had at the same time, one country lies and they don't destroy their weapons, they would then proceed to take over the world.

It would be really, really hard, or rather, impossible to change the minds of 7 billion individuals, genetically we can't even comprehend that many people.

As well, imagine how many more people there would be if there wasn't war to somewhat counteract the insane amount of babies born every second?

There's also the incentive for research in medicine and technology.

And, get ready, extra-terrestrial threats. Like independence day kind of deal. Say it's impossible? Prove me wrong ************ .

All in all, I'm pro-war, I'd rather die for a reason, or at-least an imagined one then in a food riot or a slave camp, which no doubt would exist if there was no war to control the population.

{Please, watch Apocalypse Now!, and read The Culture novels by Ian M. Banks}

I liked your original point better, since there hasn't been a draft in decades, but I find that hypothetical situation too far-fetched. As long as there are countries, there will need to be some kind of defense system, and it's easiest to arm soldiers (even with modern technology).

lol they don't sign up to die dumbass

since when were army soldiers suicidal? you need to broaden your perspective on something that isn't as trivial and insignificant as you naively imply it to be
User avatar #168 to #166 - pigbuttfoot (12/11/2012) [-]
or they signed up to protect and serve your bitch ass.

User avatar #169 to #168 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
And dying is how they protect and serve my bitch ass, so who's surprised when they do?
User avatar #175 to #169 - whosaidwut (12/11/2012) [-]
You're right, because once the opposing force meets their quota of American soldiers killed they call it a draw.

That's exactly how wars are fought now.

User avatar #178 to #175 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
You're right, because zero American soldiers die in war, they just talk politely with the other military until they work something out.
User avatar #180 to #178 - whosaidwut (12/11/2012) [-]
You missed the point I was trying to make entirely

They don't die to protect you.
They serve to protect you, dying is an occupational hazard to them.
User avatar #181 to #180 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
So you're saying the dead soldiers are worthless and didn't do any good to our country? That's a dick thing to say.
User avatar #186 to #181 - whosaidwut (12/11/2012) [-]
Aww, man is it adorable when people try to twist my words.

Look at you, ya little cutey.

I just want to hold you, and squeeze you, and throw you into a volcano

When did I ever come close to saying that dead soldiers are worthless to my country? Oh jee, would you look at that, none of my statements came even close to that.

For you to equate dying or not dying, for a service member, with protecting or not protecting their home country is beyond moronic.

I can't even think of a suitable analogy because of how retarded your thought process is.
User avatar #189 to #186 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
You just criticized your own words, I hope you feel smart.

User avatar #206 to #203 - demandsgayversion (12/11/2012) [-]
It's funny, though. Nobody cares about soldiers until you criticize them, then they are oh so quick to proclaim their patriotism. In the face of scrutiny, everyone's a supportive hero.
User avatar #213 to #206 - whosaidwut (12/12/2012) [-]
Or it could be because friends I grew up with all through grade school are now serving in the military, and I know they would do anything to ensure their home is safe and sound.

Your statement says a lot more about you, than it does about everyone else simply because of your cynicism that "nobody cares about soldiers"

On that note, I finally found the quote I had been looking for from General Patton.

"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."
Now go to an army base and ask them all why they aren't out there dying for your freedom
