The one time I see Adventure Time on the front page it's the day when I had an absolutely terrifying nightmare about it the night before.
Damn you, internet.
Most related AT reaction I have.

I was in a dark house with Finn and my friend (who is obsessed with AT) and we were walking through, it was pretty creepy, though nothing terrifying yet, but after a little while I'm pretty sure we reached a room with a screen and some text appeared on it. I forget what the text said, but it was probably something weird. Then we kept walking and reached a small room, and there was Jake, just standing there, and he looked really creepy and realistic. He was holding a needle and thread in his hand and was smiling and I was really confused. Then he sewed his eyelids together. His ******* eyelids. Because of how realistic he looked it was really bloody and weird, and I'm super squeamish. It just terrified me.

Eclectic comedy with underlying adult themes and morals.

every episode i've seen has been flashing colors and some kid shouting.
User avatar #33 to #31 - aerius (12/10/2012) [-]
I doubt there's really any flashing colours, that ****** illegal ever since porygon killed all those kids.
User avatar #63 to #33 - trevorbelmont (12/10/2012) [-]
bitch, ash killed them cuz he ordered Pikachu to nuke those missiles causing that light display of DOOOOOM. PORYGON IS INNOCENT

i just don't see anything about it, one episode ended with a competition of grabbing a ball with his ass.

literally ass-ball, i don't see why that should even be in a kids show.
User avatar #35 to #34 - aerius (12/10/2012) [-]
suuuuuuuuure, kiiiid's show xD
User avatar #37 to #35 - imadethistopost (12/10/2012) [-]
it's on cartoon network, it's atleast aimed at kids.
User avatar #38 to #37 - aerius (12/10/2012) [-]
it's a borderline show like they used to show in the nineties, like the simpsons when it was funny.
User avatar #39 to #38 - imadethistopost (12/10/2012) [-]
was never allowed o watch the simpsons, or rugrats, or spongebob, or family guy, and for a long while pokemon and dragon ball, was held to very high standards as a child.
User avatar #41 to #39 - aerius (12/10/2012) [-]
that sounds less 'high standards' and more 'cloistered youth'.

i wound up heading to the marine corp, so something worked.

I was allowed to watch the things you weren't and I turned out just fine. You're upbringing has nothing to do with what you're allowed to watch but the actual parenting involved, I wasn't an idiot child, I knew better than to be stupid or believe stupid things. But anyway... the appeal in the show is that it's not actually "directed" towards kids, that's a common western misconception, but more to a more young teen and even college level audience. The show itself has a lot, and I mean A LOT of dark backstory and dark themes if only you take some time to hear, see, and find them.

For one, it's a post-apocalyptic Earth, though not said directly, a nuclear war is mentioned in a discreet way and there are several instances of globes in this world with a large chunk blown out of it. Plus it's a very touching series in some episodes, ones that completely change your perspective on the main antagonist the Ice King. You start off disliking him because he does bad things and then when you learn his history you pity the poor man because he has no control over it and you find the reason behind some of the things he does.
