Science and philosophy are a kin.
Historically, one had to be a scientist and a philosopher in order for any arguments to be considered valid (View Descartes and his meditations utilized to justify his scientific arguments)
The whole premise is that this is what science can show, but how do we know its real?
The thought displines have distanced in recent times due to the increase in specialization in our society, but they remain two diffrent methods for achieving the same goal: the advancement of the same goal.

Furthermore metaphysics is a subdivision of philosophy, and theology is largely a mix, of history, sociology, metaphysics and epistemology depending on the specialization of the individual researcher.

The internet is being in a dark room and moving the black cat if it is unfortunate enough to move in front of the computer.

I would say for those who are educated, theology provides the belief that there is a cat in the room, and science is used to search for it. But why search if you think there is nothing there?

Science is the how, religion is the why. Anyone who believes, but does not use intelligence to do so, are the problem.

Religion is like being in a dark room and sacrificing a goat to find the cat.

Metaphysics would be more like looking for a black cat in a dark room by figuring out how the room would look if you could see, and then searching the most likely places.

Theology would be saying "I know there is a cat here somewhere, and these are the things I perceive that point that out to me - I don't need to find the cat to know it is here."

Science would be groping in said likely places and making a mental tally of "here" or "not here." for future reference of finding cats.

In order for analogies to be actual analogies they need to keep all variables the same save the manipulated one (the belief system in this case). Adding that there is a flashlight ruins said analogy.

Also, science, metaphysics, and theology are all branches of philosophy, so there is technically philosophy answers the with the other three rather than by itself.
