mfw reading this. Philosophy is science and nobody gets it.

Philosophy is not all about smoking pot and sitting in drum circles. You gotta go to class SOMEtimes...

I went to a lecture yesterday titled "philosophy and quantum physics" and the philosophers understood the **** out of the lecture and the scientists didn't.

Yep people should stop judging out of asses...

Philosophy and logic are nothing like what the average Joe thinks about them, they are hard boiled science.

Agreed.

People think philosophy is really easy because a phil 101 class was the easiest class they ever took and the teachers said "there is no one answer, all your ideas are good."

And then phil upper division classes are the hardest on campus and the teachers say "these are not good answers, all your ideas are crap."

Exactly.

And thank god that i am studying psychology and not philosophy or logic(only passed them in 1 semester), i still don't a thing about them except that math is easier and if i had to chose between math and logic i would chose path. At least there is right or wrong and its not like.. well i can't compare with anything but i still am horribly confused like i just went out of spin cycle.

But I'm just anon, I'll go now.

Obviously 10 times, you're bound to cum in the pussy at least one of those times, so when you notice it, you grab it.

While its true that science did evolve from philosophy it evolved from a specific philosophy of the scientific method. This might seem like a minute difference but it isn't, because as a bio major I never had another science major claim that evolution could be wrong on metaphysical grounds and under the impression that a fossil record is somehow debatable while using arguments grounded solely in philosophy. However I have met more than one of the philosophy majors at my school that INSISTED that you could use metaphysical arguments against scientific theories like evolution. While on paper modern science descend from philosophical ideas on method, only a philosophy major would think you could argue with words against observable evidence like actual measurements.

You forgot about the fact that Philosophy gave birth to Psychology, which is in itself a science. I don't rightly think you can exclude philosophy from science itself, because philosophy is all about extrapolating the meaning of life based on logical assumption.

As for religion, you forgot about Scholasticism, which is what most scientists tend to be, scholastic, in other words, religious science.

In fact, Religion and Science have little to nothing to do with each other. Science may find out how things came to be, but it will never be able to find out what caused reality in itself to generate, and that is what the purpose of Religion(an extension of philosophy, which, as I said earlier, should be defined as a science) is, to provide a logical conclusion based on prior information.

Am I saying christianity is the true, best, answer? HELL NO. I'm saying that the idea that there ISN'T some kind of being or beings who created reality, be them a simple form of energy or some kind of universe-transcending hyper-intelligence, is illogical. You can't create something from nothing.

if I can't create something from nothing, then where did the "being or beings who created reality, be them a simple form of energy or some kind of universe-transcending hyper-intelligence" come from?

They are beings who were never not there, presumably. There was never a point where they WEREN'T there.

What you just said basically proves there is a God. A purely natural origin of the universe is impossible under our current understanding of the natural universe. In order to explain the origin of the universe, people who argue that there is no God must put forth an inconsistent argument, claiming both that the universe always follows natural laws and at the same time, that it sometimes didnt at the time of creation. The creation of the universe in itself contradicts a purely natural origin because it requires something to be created from nothing, which is supernatural. Those who argue that there is a God claim that while there is a natural universe that follows the laws of nature, there is also a being that exists outside of those laws. Regardless of which of these arguments you believe, it's easy to see that it one of them is consistent and the other is not.
