Something to consider:
Lion King was based off Hamlet, Scar was based off of Hamlet's uncle who murdered Hamlet's father to become king. Uncle (Scar) then marries Hamlet's mother (Simba's mom), and she is his queen. Pretty much, while Simba is gone (Years) Scar is there banging his mom.

He conned a servant into taking a prince captive and take on his form to marry a rich woman, using voodoo--also tried tokill the towns mayor and take the town for himself so he could be the richest person around. He sold his soul to do this stuff.

Y'know. Basic villain ****.

Not really an opportunist, Scar planned the entire thing. He had the hyenas start the stampede, used Simba to lead Mufasa to the cliff, and pushed him off. I'd say that he was rather the ultimate planner/schemist.

I just watched the lion king and i realized 2 things. First was that I forgot how it felt like to watch a movie in reverse as it was rewinding and second, that Scar saved the Prideland.

Shortly after scar took office, there was a drought which caused all the herds to leave the pride lands. If Mufasa was still king, he wouldn't have pushed the lionesses to search so desperately for food and they would of began to starve. The hyenas would of sensed this weakness and taken over the Prideland. By using the hyenas as his own personal police, he was able to stop a war from erupting with them, until the end of the drought. Once the rain came towards the end of the movie, Scar was no longer needed because the herds would now return. By defeating the supposed tyrant Scar, Simba became a symbol for the lions to rally around as they rebuilt. Scar was the hero the Prideland deserves but no longer the one it needed.

It's an animated movie. I believe what they were trying to get across was that scar wasn't taking care of the pridelands the way Mufasa or Simba would've because he was a bad guy, and being a bad leader led to the destruction of the pridelands. He was a king who didn't take care of all his subjects, favoring himself, and it led to a kingdom in disarray.

Yes but other than the hyenas everywhere, the majority of the problems were beyond Scar's control. Nala's complaint was that there was no food nor water. No water means no plants. No plants means no herbivores. No herbivores means no food for lions.

The closest thing in the movie that could incriminate Scar for the barren landscape would be not killing Simba who was supposed to die. When talking about the circle of life, Mufasa said the lions become the grass. Because Scar didn't kill Simba, Simba never became grass. Without the Simba-grass's roots holding it together the ground cracked and all the water went deep underground. That is about the most I can think of that would make Scar the cause of the droughts.

I think it was the over hunting that caused the lands to become so barren. not drought. I mean it's raining during the fight scene so clearly it wasn't that bad. In fact it's in the monsoon season that predators in africa have the most difficulty hunting due to the flooding making it difficult to chase. just some thoughts on your idea

"Scar, there's a drought. The herds have moved on." It was definatley a drought that caused the herds to leave.

Right. It's been awhile since I watched it. I was just basing my idea off of a documentary on a Savannah in africa

still over-hunting wouldn't kill all the grass and dry up all the rivers, it would more likely do the opposite.

Well, he did make one mistake.
He should have just slaughtered Simba straight after, instead of telling him to run away only to send the hyenas to **** up the job
